Default Question for 1967 2+2 fans

Anyone know how many ragtops were built?

What about how many 428HO cars were built?

This is for 1967 - sorry, can't edit the title of the thread.

No breakdown for verts. Phs will show how many HO's were made but that number is for the entire B body line.

What if I told you that 280 were ragtops?

137 of those had a manual tranny?

And what if I said 261 out of 1,768 cars had the 428 HO?

I've received permission from the GM Heritage Center to post this matrix that was compiled by Fred Simmonds in 1989, but I do notice a typo he made based on cross-referencing original documents. I want to make a correction and then I'll post it.

Looking foreward to your next post.
Do you have a matrix for the 65's?

It is still speculation but none the less quite cool.

I have nothing on the '65s. Does the info exist? I don't know. I didn't have much time to spend. I did obtain some info for that year but nothing that broke things down by bodystyle. Kinda ironic since the '65s are the most popular of the bunch.

Hope your not related to Julious and Ethel.

Very cool. I find it most interesting that no HO's were mated with the standard 3sp manual, all 4 speeds. Because my 2+2 has the 421 HO and the 3sp manual. Most interesting.

Thank you very much for posting.

Patrick...weren't the 65 3 spd trannys made by Dearborn? If so, perhaps they were not using that unit by 67 and therefore all the HO motors got 4spd Muncies?

Diego, that is a very interesting tabulation sheet there. I noticed that it is just one page of many that appear to be folded over in the pic you provided. A curious mind like mine would like to know what is on the other pages!

I guess it would be easy to do such a tabulation from the historic services' files but it would only seem feasible for low production models such as the 67 2+2 and the 67 GP convertible. Other large number production runs like the Catalinas and Bonnevilles would take hours and hours and hours of research and tabulating form the original order sheets.

Actually, they are not tabulated from invoices, so it is not too hard. I possibly may be able to find out more information from the photos I took, but I can't post them because they're the memos. I also need to be careful because I can't cross-reference the numbers because I didn't take photos of all the documents, so I hesitate to make a statement in the chance that it is incorrect. That being said, I do have 428 HO numbers that are not 2+2s.

The other pages in the set are for other 1967 Pontiacs, of which I think the stuff is common knowledge by this point except, perhaps, the Sprint breakdown by bodystyle.

Wayne
Not sure if they were using top-loaders in 67. Interesting thought.

You have more info? Do tell!

Otherwise, even though this list was drafted in '89, I've never seen it and never have seen mention of any kind of breakdown, especially of ragtops.

"Well we are waiting"

Judge Smails.

If you have anything on the 65 HO motor breakdown that would be totally cool.

I would be interested in hearing more about this big car document. I don't have any big car document other than what I've posted.
