Aside from being aluminum, and presumably a lot lighter, is there an difference between this and a stock four barrel manifold from '63?

McCarthy's book lists the "Nascar" 4 cyl at 184hp as a 1962 engine. There is no listing for this engine in 63.

There were two aluminum 4 cyl manifolds produced. This one, without the heat riser.
And a later one which is exactly like the '63 stock cast iron manifold w/heat but done in aluminum. |

Milford MI, Rare Pontiac SD parts, I probably know the seller, I will have to call Kevin and ask. It is probably him, he sold the Fiat Altered last summer that was discussed on this site quite extensivly. Good guy, but he knows what he has (and he has more Pontiac parts than I have ever seen before!!!) And knows what he can get $$$$ wise.

How difficult would it be to make this work with 61-64 heads? Are we talking about adding a lot of weld material? I wonder how much a shop like SD would charge for that.

Would be stupid money on top of stupid money!Like I have in labor in my 859.If you could buy the intake for $50 or so it might be worth it.JMHO,Tom

Already have one, bought years ago for a lot less than this guy is asking.
I will never run a 306 head, but a later head is more likely to happen. Am thinking it would be easier to epoxy or braze up the water passage on the back of the head. |

I am having trouble understanding the desire for such an intake for anymore than a note over cast iron cost.

Current asking cost is due to it being a factory performance part with a very limited production. Plusses for that manifold is the weight difference verses the cast iron one & no heat risor,,,minuses is that it will only fit the 60-later head & costs much $$$ to modify to work on the newer heads. For the cost of that manifold, you could get a very good head & manifold combo that will out perform any of the older stuff...

Sorry,,,misunderstood you. Agree, manifold is not worth what he's asking. Especially cince its not a bolt on & run type of deal. Thats a lot of coin for something thats just a wall hanger in the man cave!!
