I remember seeing a ragtop at Maple Grove about 10 years ago, but I don't have a pic. Haven't been able to see one online either. Anyone have a pic? Bonus points if it's a Judge!

There was no body color called sandlewood for 70. Sandlewood was available as a color for the convertible top, vinyl top and interior color only. What pictures are you looking for? I have this GTO with sandlewood interior.

Is the 1970 color, Sierra Yellow (I think), the same?

Way different. Don't think they had Sandlewood 70 and no Sierra Yellow in 71. There are several factory pics floating around of 71 GTO vert in what looks like Sierra Yellow, a color that never offered in that model year.

Kinda like those early 70's earthtones myself. There was a Sandlewood 71 GT-37 (blue sword stripes) car for sale a few months back on Criagslist for cheap. Looked nice with those stripes and rally II's.

Sierra Yellow is completely different - not even close.
Regarding that factory photo, I've always wondered what the deal with the color was, but I find it strange it was painted a color that wasn't available. Do you think some tint was added over the years? Logically, that car should be Sandalwood. |
