Can anybody identify the year of this indian?
Also is the back end of the chrome cut off (third picture) or is that the whole thing? The Indian looks to be in pretty good condition considering... one of the mounting screw holes is filed off flush with the bottom Any clue what it's worth?

Yeah that looks like it, thanks. I guess it was clipped off at the front and at the back.
Is the indian face removable /re-usable? any clue as to it's value?

It's a 1949 (the link posted is incorrectly listed as a '48). 1949 was the first year for the amber insert which was illuminated.
Your ornament appears to have been trimmed in both front and back. Not sure there is much value to it because of that other than someone who would be looking for the amber insert. If the hood ornament was intact then it may be worth up to $350 if in mint condition (if one can find a buyer) but I do not have any pricing reference on just the insert. Reference: Pontiac Mascots, Hood Ornaments, and Trademarks by Walter Harris Hope this helps. |
