I'm looking at 69 GTO but the vin on the dash seems odd to me. The vin reads 242379G127406 but there is a space between 24237 and the rest of the VIN. Is that normal?

It looks like it should have a plastic cover over it. Didn't GM do that on 69 models?

Common stamping from both Framingham and Fremont plants. Notice the 4237 number string is even slightly different than the leading 2 and the 9G127406. All the vin plates were stamped out earlier and then the model and body style were stamped in later.

VIN plate is correct, but rivets are not.

Yes, they are supposed to have the plastic covers from the factory. A lot of times they would get brittle from the sun and break up. I were the guy with the round rivets I have made sure to have the cover to help hide the VIN swap.

My 1971 GT-37 even has the plastic trim around the VIN tag.
