Wiper switch with washer was working fine now can't get them to work. Switch seems very loose maybe worn out. Are you suppose to feel a click when you turn the switch on.The wiper motor, pump and harness is brand new. 2 Speed wipers with washer button. How do you replace these? Want to pick up a new one from Ames.

I have an old 66 switch out in the shop I can look at but, I think there is a small set screw on the side of the knob that holds it to the shaft.

I just looked at the switch and there is a small set screw that holds the knob on. Loosen the screw, pull the knob off then unscrew the bezel. Before you change out the switch try tightening the set screw. Sometimes they get loose and the knob may turn but the shaft doesn't. If the screw is loose you may have to turn it slightly while tightening to make sure it seats on the shaft properly. And, yes the switch does "click" when turned.

Check the ground first. I had the same thing happen. It had lost its ground.

How is the switch grounded? Is it grounded against the dash board when it's mounted?

I had a similar problem with my switch and after adding a ground to it. I have had no problems since. I used a very thin washer (that the switch went thru and was between it and the back of the dash, if that makes sense) that I had soldered a wire that was long enough to reach the main dash ground spot.

The wiper switch (and the headlamp switch) have a conjoined ground strap made out of a thin piece of steel. Here is a view from the backside. I don't have a photo of a '66 but '67 is basically the same.
