Yesterday the gas stations around my way to work were $2.33 for regular. Today the same stations are $2.92. Now WTF is the oil companies excuse for raising the prices that much in one day?

Local issues?
Our local prices have gone down in the past week from around $2.55 for regular to about $2.20. I paid $2.199 yesterday morning and less than that on Saturday. |

I saw on the news last night there was a gas war in Rochester - several stations were selling at less than $2/gallon.

You can thank Marathon for that. In OH,IN,KY and MI, they have a virtual monopoly on gasoline refining.

Been that way here for years.
Slowly drops for a week or so, then jumps 30-40 cents. Lately the range has been 2.39 to 2.79

The price at the pump is in direct relation to the cost at the rack (where the tanker fills up).
Price goes up at the rack, price goes up at the pump, the retailer has to pass on his increased cost per gallon. Locally, $1.99 a gal two days ago, $2.09 yesterday, $2.19 today, all for 87 octane junk gas. While cheaper than most markets, the dime a gal jumps don't give much confidence in what it's going to be tomorrow Diesel, I filled up yesterday for $1.96 a gal, that will last a while. Normally, in our gas vehicles, I only fill up with Pure gas, as I have the choice and one vehicle gets 8% better mileage on Pure Gas. For the last month Pure Gas has been locally hovering in the $2.59-2.69 a gal range... Thats been too wide a spread from junk gas to justify it in our late model drivers. There is something worse than 87 octane e10 junk gas. Local stations offering 87 octane Pure Gas are buying from the rack a mix of premium Pure Gas (91 octane) that's been cut with 84 octane pure gas. A monsterous volume of 84 octane garbage is moved through the Magellan pipelines, then the bulk of it is mixed with ethanol at the local rack, that's how 87 octane junk gas is blended.

At least oil companies are in competition with each other. Don't blame Shell/BP/Chevron/Texaco - blame the .gov entities passing cap and trade, taxing the fuel even more etc.
You think gas prices are ugly now, wait until this Iranian treaty passes and those crazies have money again. |

WA gas tax was increased last week by 9 center per gallon.
Thank you legislators.
