Got the GM of Canada docs on this new purchase. What is ZP2 TRIM AND COLOUR OVERRIDE? And there is no radio, so ordered without one, but I would have expected to see UN9 RADIO ACCOMMODATION PACKAGE if their plan was to remove the radio delete plate and install a big-ass aftermarket stereo upon receiving the car. Thoughts?

Hey, that's cool, I live about 45 minutes from Brookdale (now Ledingham). I knew the guy who was parts manager there for many many years.
I am betting the over ride is simply a paint and interior combo that was not recommended (although I can't imagine why on your car, seems like a logical combo) |

Wellllll...there is this, black wheel (should be gold) black deluxe cloth (should be gold), black console (should be gold) ...maybe ordered that way? Bizarro. I figure the black glove box door, is owner-added

Don't pitch the louvers. There are many people looking for those.

If this is a non-y88 then the black column and steering wheel are correct for 1978...IIRC camel tan column and wheel was only on y88? I could be wrong...though ![]() Enjoy! |

Hmmmmm... With the dlx seats being '79 or '80's and the doorpanels being wrong, not sure about them originally being black. Des, I tried special ordering my very early built '80 SE Turbo with black Dix dash, black doorpanels, black interior plastic, but with camel tan hobnail seats. my reasoning, the black hobnail showed lint real bad, black vinyl was too hot, and I knew an all camel tan Dix interior plastic would fade. Have mentioned this before, my Dad worked for GMAC and had special ordered many Pontiacs. He was friends with several of the zone guys, but could not get it done, kicked the order back. Building it as a black dlx interior car, and just swapping in the camel hobnail seats should not have been that big a deal with a trim override, the car was a priority1 sold vehicle. Needless to say, I'm still irked about it and the car is still setting in the warehouse, I mothballed it in '88.

Wasn't trying to come off critical, I'd like to know what the trim override actually did on this car, or if in that respect, George is again off on his UPC decoding.

I stopped to look at a Solar Gold T/A back in the early 90's. It was in super rough shape, but it was a Gold Anniversary the owner said to me. The PO told him that. Lol. I tried to set the owner straight, I told him he didn't even have a Y 88, but it's hard to correct BS through the years sometimes. Silver in '79, does it make sense to have a Gold anniversary in 1978. He saw the light.

Hope you find a build sheet that would help. My buildsheet has the Big 4 camel tan printed on it. A local vinyl repair guy told me in the '80's that the Big 4 designation alluded to the contrasting shades of camel between different parts of the interior. In the 90's, I had a local friend restoring a solar gold '78 with 62B interior and know he fought getting the shades of camel tan correct between all the plastic...and the console/dash.

If that is all of the codes on the sheet, there is no Y82 or Y88 (gold) option?
It was possibly just a TA that had the Gold and it's accommodating interior added? The Solar Gold was originally just for the Y88 but later became available to the other cars. (like Carousel red in 69 and other colors) Edit: Alvin's article explains it, even from start of production Would like to see the cowl tag also. I as well would like to know what that ZP2 means.
