Bought this car off Ebay in '05 (wow, that long??). Gathered some parts along the way, never had a decent place to work on it (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!). Finally got a house and the wherewithall to build a shop...actually just 'unloaded' the car for the first time tonight. Floors seem pretty good (someone pulled the floor pan plugs for drainage a long time ago), trunk floor may be ok as well, despite the (vinyl top) rear window filler rot. Here's the options, as I know them: Expresso Brown, A/C, TH400, vinyl top (not sure on color), buckets, console, tilt, ps, pdb, posi, wheel opening moldings, and cornering lights! Don't think I've ever actually seen them on a GTO in person. Car is, shall we say, really rough!
I'm planning on deleting the vinyl top, not sure on color, have a hideaway setup on hand, half the parts for a manual trans swap, a 428 shortblock, probably a few other things I've forgotten that I bought since then!
Anyway, here's a couple pics for those who haven't seen them since 2005 when I bought this and joined, lol!

Looks beat down but is in good hands, glad to hear your going to save it! Most would say it's a parts car. I have a 69 thats about the same as yours. Just going to run it as a beater and piss people off with the "I'm going to fix it someday" story.

I have seen a lot worse. The 428 and 4 speed should make it more exciting. I vote no on the vinyl roof. I guess you know you can buy a new panel for the rear windshield. Better to replace than try to fix it with bondo. Now get off the computer and get to work. We expect progress reports and pics along the way.

Vinyl is a cool option that most cars didnt sport. I too would retain that to help stand the car out beyond the masses

Good job on starting it, never hurts to get all of the parts together as much as possible before starting. A friend has been trying to sell his '68 on this site for years and I've been extremely tempted to get it so I can enjoy rowing the gears in an A-body again...

Been cleaning out the car the last couple days. Found some interesting things

The good: floorboards are really pretty good! Rusty under the back seat, few small holes. Otherwise, just a little surface rust.
The bad: parcel shelf/back seat partition. WTF???? Maybe had some giant speakers? SMH.

Firewall. Add Underhood light to the list. I guess that's what's left of the hood light switch above and to the right of the voltage regulator? What's the solenoid below and left of the regulator? Part of the A/C?

Engine....mount? Someone was in a hurry! I bought a set of mounting brackets already.

Oh yeah, XH code 400 with #62 heads.

Looks pretty complete... Hope you reconsider the Espresso brown... My 69 is Mayfair maize and staying that color along with the black vinyl top. One good thing about replacing the vinyl top is any rust repairs made to the roof don't have to be 'perfect'. And it's not like the roof will ever get rusty again because the car will lead a pampered life after you restore it.
