Default OK, I'm confused....is this a '68 or '69?

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...610737452.html

'69 taillights...'68 rear markers...'68 doors....'69 front end?

And "GTO cloned"?? How so? "18000 car faxed miles"? Is that the new "original miles"? lolol! Does Carfax go back that far?

I think this car has had an interesting life.

It's a '69 with '68 doors and front bumper.
The rear marker lights are correct for a '69 Tempest/LeMans. Has '69 front valance coupled with the '68 bumper. Has the '69 dash.

Good points.

The lack of stainless wheel & rocker trim puts a 10x on the the 18,000 miles, & adds outside to the time spent inside 4-walls. huh

Possibly, but I too removed the wheel well, rocker and hood/fender cowl chrome from my 70 GTO as part of my "restification" process many years ago. It is a 60k family owned survivor but at the time it cleaned up the lines long before these cars were valuable.

Now I wish I had kept the OEM chrome trim although some of it was pretty tattered.

This "68" appears to be more than one car though.

I had a '69 Tempest that had the vent windows, and chrome bumper. Except for the tail lights, it looked a lot like a '68.

Yes, but yours is a post coupe- the other one is a hard top with vent windows. Hard tops lost the vent windows after '68.

Last time I checked Car Fax went back to around 1982 or so. I was surprised it even went back that far.

What is "GTO" on this car? With the '68 doors and '68 Lemans front bumper they could at least have added a '68-'70 GTO hood lol. And the 350 engine isn't "GTO" either. Nothing wrong with not having that stuff on the car, but people seem to add the "GTO" name to any car ad with any Pontiac these days. Car would look a lot nicer if the wheels and stripes were removed and some rocker trim and wheelhouse moulding were installed in my humble opinion.

This car has been for sale before & it was shown in a pic inside of a junk yard , about 6 months ago. Then the next time the pic was taken at a body shop entrance, so maybe it got sold once & then they realized what they bought & were the next to sell it, & now someone else has it trying to make a bundle on it. I think it was priced at about $ 5500.00 the 1st time, & now. WOW.
