I think that car has been up for sale before, or I am having complete déjà vu.

Pretty cool car, but really rusty. look close at the quarter & wheel well pictures. Even the door jambs are rusted through. If the frame is toast (very possibly), I don't think there is much there anymore. Notice the car is being held out of the weeds with a floor jack, blocks & the mud on the tire? Probably hasn't moved in a long time.


Sad, cause its a pretty cool car otherwise & looks pretty original.

It might very well be worth it but I would definitely have to examine that one in person. Non original engine/head codes.
Frame, floors, rockers, trunk pan probably all rusty if not rotten...but who knows until you can get under it. It looks like a pretty decent project on the surface. Keep us updated if you don't mind. I'm curious about what he'll have to say about it.

Seems like it's worth a look to me. I don't seen any obvious signs the frame is rusted out ... looks like the guy is also smart enough not to jack it up by the frame right there without use a block of wood.

Worst thing I see is signs of bondo bubbling .. which means it's probably had previous rust repairs.

All we need is a bill of sale and that the guy who signed the bill of sale to you is the registered owner in the state it was last registered in. Also, they may require you have have a LEO call in the VIN to verify no stolen reports.

Keep in mind where the car is located though. In this neck of the woods the ground is so full of moisture. The block of wood could very well be to prevent frame damage, but that is a bit scary. Not saying its not worth it, but cars rust differently (in a bad way) up here. For sure needs a close inspection. This car reminds me of the 68 convertible I posted about a year of so ago that sat in a field forever.

Talked to this guy last night...Not original rear end, heads, block....was Safety track rear, but I guess the guy wrecked the rear way back...probably due to the fact its jacked up, which causes wheel hop....I broke a rear end in my 69 Chevelle from severe wheel hop back in the 80's. This would be a cool car restored, I really like pepper green with green interior.

Same here .... if I was in the market I'd definitely take a look at that and offer $5000.
After running the VIN for hits, if nothing came up I wouldn't worry about it, you can always get something titled, even if you have to go through a title service in Georgia or something.

No. It's a roach without legs, a bottomless money pit.
And the 2 grand more spent to buy the '70 will save you bucket loads of money once you start fixing things.

I'm with you on that one....I am going to go look at the 70 GTO next week...its only about 65 miles away. I have talked to the owner of the 70, and he says he does not want the car to sit for too long, so maybe a guy can get it for $7000??? For a running driving 70 GTO with a 4 speed, thats not a bad price...and I really really love pepper green!!! Clink the link below to see a Pepper Green 1970...man, what a beauty!!!

The biggest problem is there are not many solid project cars left. Almost seems like everything that comes for sale like this in recent years, is something nobody would even consider 10-15 years ago.

First GTO I ever rode in was just like that one, only an auto.. He doesn't want it to sit? I'd offer him $6K.

I think there is a huge disparity in opinions on price based on what you own, and what you have owned. For a guy that's owned half a dozen pristine GTOs this is a roach. For a guy that wants to start with something other than a body shell from a salvage yard this is a good start. Heck you can hardly buy a decent riding mower for $6,000.

Rolling "junk" GTOs are just not that common anymore. For a guy with a few thousand to start, and 3 or 4 grand a year to work with this would be a good project. For a 60 year old guy with 50k of disposable ... not so much.

Also depends a lot on your situation ... for a guy living in a quiet suburban neighborhood with a small box of craftsman tools .... not so much. For guy in the country with welders, a lift, sand blaster, painting equipment, some machine tools .... whole lot cheaper to get things done.

Still ... 6,000 seems a bit high .... more like $4500-5000 assuming no frame rot, no roof rot etc.
