Ill start out by saying Im no expert at any of this so here goes... My mechanic says he has rebuilt my carb twice on my 67 GTO auto but whn it warms up it refuses to idle. He says its a problem with the carb. The number on the carb is 7037262 and I believe it is the correct carb for the car. Any suggestions, I was reading about that 67 carbs have a unique heat groove slot on the bottom and the gaskets have to be sandwiched just right, could this be something to do with it? Thanks.

7037262 is correct for a 1967 California only GTO. Due to the lean calibration for California cars, it WILL ALWAYS have idle issues if used on a Federal or 49-state engine.

From the bottom, the sequence is: manifold, gasket, heat baffle, carburetor. Both the gasket and the heat baffle are unique to the 1967 Q-Jet.

Even the wrong year or model carb if rebuilt correctly will allow your engine to idle. If your rebuilder is qualified then look elsewhere for your problem. Check for vac. leaks first.
That carb fits 400's and 428's and should idle find on your car.
