Would i be better off to use a performer intake or a performer rpm on a new 455 ram air 4 cam 4x7h heads and a slightly built quad carb.This is a daily street driver, i have the opportunity to buy a used rpm from an individual locally.Also whats a used rpm worth?

I'd use one. I've got one on my 400 with an XE274 cam. I'm not sure what they are worth.

The runners on a performer are actually a little smaller than a stock intake. I have tracked some RPM's on ebay, they easily go in the $150 range.

Other than a weight savings, the performer is no better than a cast iron intake.
If the RPM is a good price, then get it.

I ran an RPM intake on my 462/RAIV TA and it worked great.

BE Sure to check your hood clearence with the RPM intake , it is alot taller than the performer.

I run a performer RPM with a 3" drop base 4" Filter and I stll needed my 2-1/4" Cowl hood.

I have an RPM on a 455 in my 68 Firebird and also use the 4X-7H heads. I havent put the front clip back on the car but by taking some rough measurements the RPM is going to give me a little hood clearance issue. May just go with a high-rised 400 hood. But I would deffinetly recommend the RPM like these guys suggested.

The performer rpm should clear a 68 400 stle hood with a drop base air cleaner and a 3" filter
