Need help on proper setup for this vac terminal on
intake, I believe it is called Termovacswitch. Don't know just what it does, and what vac lines connect to it. I believe it is fed from carb, one terminal that has vac pressure goes to transmission, does the other terminal fed the AC system. Don't have and pressure coming out of this terminal, does it open up after the motor heats up? Anybody... am I close on this? |

What year and model? I thought you were referring to the 68 vacuum advance/retard system

Here is a picture of the vacuum lines routing on my 69 TA. This car doesn't have A/C but does have an automatic tranny.

I believe that the switch is supposed to go from the vac advance side of the carbruator to the dist. vac advance. The other I'm not too sure about. I have never had one that actually was hooked up or was working. If you can get the CA smog decal It will show where all of the vac lines should go to.

69's are basic..just 3 hoses. one to ported vac, one to man. vac and one to distributor adv. The other two are plugged off.

get the pontiac factory service manual, it shows the emissions equipment and how to troubleshoot it.

JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE!!!!!
The red striped hose goes to the manifold vacuum source, the long black hose goes to the distributer vacuum advance bell and the short hose attaches to the tube which goes into the timed vacuum advance carb port. I verifed this lines routing with the 69 assembly manual and my car runs great fine.

Little old me?? Me? Nope not me. Ididn't say a thing. Must have been that pink elephant that ran under the chair or possibly one of those mysterious mud ducks I hear roaming around the office.
  I guess I should try out for the role of the duck in the Aflac commercials.

The ames catalog has a simplified picture of the hoses and also, if im not mistaken, sell a reproduction of the hoses...

Hey Raj...your crankcase vent pipe ain't date coded on the right side at 125 degrees from top dead center. That's 2 demerits :-)

AH NUTS!! I got caught with no date code on my breather tube. Bad monkey, Bad!! Feels about the same as getting caught with your fly down in church.
My TA was missing the breather tube when I bought it so I picked up a repro piece and slapped in on. The darn thing started to rust two days later so I took it back off ahd painted it dull black. I've never seen an all original restored TA up close so I had no idea that the date code was stamped on the breather tube. Do you know date code format and the letter size?? The number might just magically appear.. L8TR

Raj...just bustin' your horns on the vent tube. they never had a date code on them. Just that your engine looked so good I could not resist a jab!! I don't see you using the Wittek tower hose clanps on the heater hoses on the firewall. and now those are those are date coded. Looks like it is coming along well though. I am just about done debugging mine. I got stuck in 2nd and had to reajust the shift linkages, had to pull the trans as the rear speedo gear had slipped forward. Intermittant right front turn signal was a crack in the cancelling cam. Had to pull the steering column apart and replace it. Guess that is about it. I did purchase the door jamb windlace with D&R's windlace. The stuff is made from rubber so if you paint to match it all flakes off after install. I thought I was saving $20 over PY's stuff...oh well.

Steve - If I was a fish, I'd be crapping in your live well about now. I bought it hook line and sinker.
As for the tower clamps, the originals where long gone so I picked up some non-date coded repros and slapped them on. Oh well.. life goes on. I think the judges would frown at my 12 bolt rear end anyway. Picky little turds..

Raj, I felt like I have rebuilt this thing 2 to 3 times over. I just swapped in the right stuff and is still an ongoing process.
