Howdy all..... I have to go buy some tools and am wanting some advice on which type to get. I have to cut out my entire floor of a 68 GTO and some quarter skin. What is the best tool to use for this? I am thinking a air cutter, would this be the way to go to cut out the panels/flooring etc?
Also I have read through alot of these posts about welding, I gather from them that TIG is the way to go. What would be a good portable/home shop welder to get. I have done alot of welding, but only ARC and Axcetaline and some MIG. Never TIG. So, bottom line is which welder and which cutter to buy for sheet metal for a 68 GTO? THANKS for any and all advice. Bill It is not a problem.... It is just a blood pressure monitor.

I have found that a 120 volt self contained plasma cutter is the easiest and best to use.
good luck and have fun, Bob

I'd suggest a 110v wire feed welder.
They're actually easy to learn, especially if prior welding experience. Plasma cutters are neat, but not really practical for auto body work, unless you're working on bare metal through out. ( I sold mine because of this reason ) If you have a good air supply available.. I'd recommend investing in an air powered saber saw. a good 3/8ths. air drill. a couple of spot weld cutters with replaceable cutter bits. About 6 extra cutter bits. 1/8th. inch drill bits. An air chisel (also known as air hammer) I prefer to use a modified muffler bit in mine. The muffler bits are a flat blade with a half round cutting face. I regrind my cutting face to where it's more of an angled round cut.
