73 Grandville and 73 Grand Prix, the grandville obviously has 455 and the grandprix has 400. $66 dollars a car. Is that a great deal or what. I am going to pick them up saturday but I want to know one thing, I know they would have to be shortened for my 64 but do these cars have 12 bolt rearends? Also the trans should be 400 turbo's right!

Poncho64, The 73 Grandville will have a "long-tail" TH400 & the G/P will have the "short-tail" TH400. The rear in the G-ville wont fit, & not sure 'bout the 73 G/P. Sounds like a deal to me tho!

Another vote for great deal. Some great engines and parts there. There is a growing number of Grandville restorers, a friend of mine is doing a 73 Grandville convertible. Interior and trim parts are hard to come by.

Narrowing the rearend is no problem but I just wont to know are they 12 bolts or not?

The Granville differential utilizes a '71-76 MP series carrier & ring & pinion with a round flat style pinion flange. This ring & pinion is a direct descendent of the 65-70 big Pontiac rearend. No aftermarket gears are avail for either. Used gears... 3.42's were as low as possible for the '71-76 type MP series & are near extinct. Only found on '71 non a/c 3spd 400 & select mountain pkg or trailer package equipped Pontiac big cars.

While both the 65-70 & 71-76MP series utilize 8 7/8" diameter ring gears & are attached with 12 bolts, they do NOT share the common 12 bolt CHEVY 8 7/8" car or truck Ring & Pinions or carriers. The MP series carriers are wider from bearing to bearing & will not fit Chevy 12 bolts.

The '73 GP rearend fits 73-77 A & G series GM cars & will NOT bolt in '64-72 Lemans-GTO or 69-72 GP's. The upper control arm perches are placed in a different spot & are angled wider. If it is original, it will have bolt in axles & is a decent core to build up for a '73-77 GP or '77 CanAm or #1 buyers...'73-77 GM factory stock (circletrack) builders. One can also trim & grind all the brackets off of the housing & correctly weld leaf spring mounts on to get a correct width 2nd Gen Firebird R/E with desireable bolt in axles.

Good deal on the parts cars...just antied up $200 on a 69 GP SJ parts car. 4 hour drive home & a combined 14 hours getting it out of the woods, whew... made for a long weekend.
