Common places to check for rust:
floorboards trunk pan bottom edge of rear window bottom of front pillars near windshield top (grilled) edge of hood along windshield frame rails all lower sheetmetal, doors, fenders, etc. |

Get it running, drive it like hell and enjoy it! Don't let it become a "some day" project in the backyard while you wait to get enough time and/or money to make all your resto dreams come true.
Just start out first with reliable driveability and safety - working brakes, adequately tuned carb/ignition, electrical system NOT butchered, eliminate leaks & fire hazards, etc.). I'd recommend drivetrain and mechanical before looks. You'll be surprised how some of your repairs can be so much easier when you don't have to worry about scratching that new paint job!

Hi jwwads,
It's a STEAL at $1000. Is it also a genuine formula? That would make it grand theft auto. If nothing else, you could part the car out and easily triple your invetsment. Congratulations on your find. |

a formula hood without broken corners or vents is worth half that price he wants for whole car. Those are big if's on the hood though.... beware interior pieces are hard to find and expensive. repro just isn't there on 70-73.... also many sell parts as "70-73" there are many, many weird differences within those years. 70 is a weird duck year in some ways too on parts. Example on oddities: 73 sail panels are totally different than 72 and will not interchange without changing above door trim, pillar pieces, etc. you will probably spend a lot doing interior unless you get a donor car which would have half the interior trashed anyway. Just info.... wouldn't stop me, these cars are getting incredibly rare....

also you won't likely be buying a complete interior.... it is the grand search piece at at time game

thanks for the info. I realize the interior parts will be hard to find especially all at one time.. ive only seen a few parts cars for sale.. and yes i'd have to pick and choose which pieces i would want or need. As for the hood doesnt seem to be any nicks or chips out of the corners.. although the vents have the grille pieces cut out.. the hood is in really good shape for as old as it is.. hopefully bringing the car home on this sunday.. im gonna buy it.. motor started right up needs a good tune up..i'll keep you posted
