Found this decal set at GM Carlisle this year. Anyone have any ideas? It looks like a 1980 kit but it is not the same. The box says M-8-189 Firebird Nascar Striping kit Argent/Red. The address label mailed these to Nottingham Pontiac in Muncie Indiana. I can only make out part of the return address. St. Paul, Minn. which leads me to believe it came directly from 3M.

Free T-shirt to the first that properly ID's this kit. I do not have the answer!

I guess it would have helped if I put the picture up. I think I figured it out already. 79 10th anniversary cars were also the pace car for Daytona. Why did I think it said "10th Anniversary" on the door????

And Brian, I already owe you a t-shirt, so you have to confirm just for the love of the hobby.

I'm betting the kit is for a '79 TATA when equipped with the Nascar & Daytona 500 decals. The TATA was used as Daytona pacecar & the colors are right.

That's what it is, Chris. '79 Daytona 500 Pace Car decal kit. Hey, I just found my "Wears Gach?" T-shirt in the garage the other day. It's been missing since last year after M-G. I'll have to get the wife to wash it before Atco (LOL).

How about an extremely shrunk 421 club T-shirt to go along with that "Wear's Gach" T-shirt?

I've got some leftover "Wears Gach?" shirts if anyone wants one, I think 2 are size 2X but the rest would be XL (I'll have to check).

It looks to me to be a 1981 set for the nascar pace car where the nascar decals go on the rear panels. The cars had the black and red recaro seats in them. Am I right.

Chris, that does look like a 79 TATA pace car set but is not complete it should have the date decal also.
Rob,the 81 kit has the Daytona seperate and it says Turbo-Trans Am
if anyone wants a pic of the complete n.o.s 81 kit I have I can send it.
