Got a Question...hope someone knows some numbers! On a hunt for A car recently...me,my bro,and his son found this 78 TA for sale.While we noticed that the original motor had been pulled,but was included to whoever may buy the car,what caught our eyes was a odd detail.This TA was never equip with AIR. I've never seen that on a TA. Any ideas from anyone how i could find The numbers of how many like this were produced...please let me know.This has me really curious! Thanx Guys

I don't believe there is a breakdown for options. Pontiac never kept those records and Jim Mattison at PHS doesn't have the time to go through '78 Trans Am invoices.
No AIR is actually quite common. I see more without AIR than I do with.

I would agree with Dennis, it might be a Wisconsin thing, but there are many of them around here without A/C.

DeWayne, Out of the 187,285 Firebirds (all models) produced during the 1978 model year, 153,147 came with UPC code C60 air conditioning or approx 81.8%. Theoretically if you take 18.2% evenly for each model, the number of 1978 Trans Ams produced without air would have been approx 16,988 units. But since Pontiac production records only show totals per car series and not models within those series there is no way to know for sure the exact number.

I had a 1978 Trans Am 400-4 speed with t tops that came from the factory with no air. Bought it in 81. Sold it in 84.
