Im looking to get a front brake setup off of a 73 nova this week. Iam going to be putting this on my 68 lemans (power drums). I also have a set of the 79 ws6 rear discs that I will eventuly put on.

What master cylinder should I use? Will the one from the 79 bolt up? If so then I'll have a disc/disc master cylinder, which hopfully I can get from a parts store for like $20 reman. Will this also work for my rear drums for the time being untill I can get the axles turned down to fit inside the rotors?

If not what do you guys suggest that I use? I dont want to and cant break the bank on it.

Yes, you can use one in lieu of a proportioning valve.

Just know that the name is not truly correct. The Wilwood piece, and the others like it, are not truly proportioning valves, since there is not a port for front/rear pressure sensing.
These are actually Restrictor Valves. But it will still do the job.

No.
Install on the rear line. What you're trying to do is balance the brakes. If you gave all 4 corners the same (fluid) line pressure, the rears would lock when the weight transferred forward. You are using the valve to negate a percentage of rear (fluid) line pressure.

When you get the car back on the road, find an empty parking lot, lay down some water in a large patch on the asphalt. Drive through at 25-35 MPH and jump on the brakes, then get off of them. You want to get to the point that all 4 lock at the same time, then restrict the rears a little more at that point. Restricting it a little more will allow for highway/dragstrip hard stops without rear lockup.

ok I got everything bolted on yesturday, but I have a few questions. All disc parts are from a 73 nova. The master cylinder is from a 73 camaro.

1. when I press the pedal to start the bleeding process, I can hear a metal hitting metal sound. I think it is the rod within the booster finally in gaging the master cylinder. Should I change out the rod or is there a way to adjust it so that it is already touching?

2. The stock drum/drum proportioning valve, leave it or ditch it. Right now it is setup to where the front goes to from the master to the valve and then to each side. The back goes from the master to the wilwood piece, then down to the valve. Does that sounds right?

I do have the 73 camaro disc/drum proportioning valve. Should I delete the stock one that I have there now, adapt the lines to the disc/drum one and install the wilwood piece on the rear before the proportioning valve?

Or should I just T off the front right from the master, and run the rear from the master to the wilwood piece, then to the rear line? This way I dont have either proportioning valve, just the wilwood piece.

I think thats all the that I have for now. I need to get the car out of the driveway by thursday, so I would like to figure out what is going on.

You need to use the disc/drum prop valve for one.

You should have about 1/2" of travel from the uppermost stop of the brake pedal to where it rests. To adjust the free play of the pedal rod, there is a locknut holding the pedal clevis tight to the rod. Loosen and adjust.

There is also a rod in the booster that physically pushes the master cylinder. You should be using the one that came from the booster, not the master cylinder.
