I just lost my header virginity to a pair of Hookers. I have a 67 Convertible Firebird and I just finished the install of my first pair of headers and it came out great. The headers are a set of Hooker Super Competition ceramic coated part #4107-1 and a Flowmaster exhaust system part #17104. The headers were a little tough to get the bolts started but once I did it want easy. They fit like a glove. Nothing hits, the oil filter comes off with no problems and the starter has plenty of room. They are a little close to the steering box but it shouldn't be a problem. The only problem I had was the spring that attaches to the clutch throwout fork. Where the spring attaches to the frame the header was in the way so I made up a new catch for it and mounted it to the back of the starter. Problem solved. The exhaust system required some cutting down but that was no big deal either. This system uses a crossflow muffler that tucks up in the wheel well like factory so ground clearence is not reduced. It states that it will not work on convertibles but that is because to the floor X brace. I will shim it down later. It looks like the front has to drop about 1 1/2 inches and the back should be fine where it is. The only thing I'm not to sure of is the way the tail pipes sit. It would have been nice if they were chrome. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.

Looks great still looking for a system for my 67 bird. Can you put chrome splitters and run out the side. It should dress it up if you like the look.

The pipes exit out below the 1/4 panel so I think putting any thing on them would look bad. In the instructions it tell you to cut the intermediate pipe 2 1/4 inches and that is why it hangs down so far. I guess that's what I get for following directions. If you go with this system cut to fit your car. I may go back and cut the tail pipe so it fits inside the 1/4 panel and then put a down pipe on it.

Today I was able to drive the car to work. All I can say is WOW. The system sounds great and the power increase is incredable. I am very happy with this setup.

I have a 69 fb, would like to know what exhaust system you used. From the pictures it looks like you have frame connectors, What brand name are they. I thought frame connectors could not be used with convertibles?

They really made a difference in the way the car feels in the turns. I plan on putting the factory body pan back in I just need to get some spacers.

I just finished redoing the tail pipes. I really didn't like the way they came out when I installed the system to begin with so I redid them. Here is what it looks like after a lot of cutting and some help from a local exhaust shop that expended the cut pipes for me.

Great system, nice installation! I am about to install Hooker Comp Headers on my '75 Camaro and my son's '72 Camaro. I bought the Pypes 2 1/2 header-back X-pipe sytems with the Pro-V Mufflers. Thought we would test out these systems on the Chebys before we put them on the Firebirds and the T/A. I'll let everyone know how everything works within the next week or so.

One question...I can't seem to find the subframe connectors on the Global website...Probably EA (early Alsheimers).
