I have to say that in 03 I remember that I only got 2 time trials on the TA then I was supose to make a dial in off 2 passes kinda sucked. my first pass was a 11.78 the 2nd was a 12.78 or something like that.

need a place that would let us use the track all day. sounds like I'm kinda glad I didn't make it. I agree with Larry it might be a time for a change. I also don't care if I have to drive to Houston, if they will let us race and give us time to do so without rushing us I'm all for it.

I felt the "hot lapping". My darn altenator belt was jumping off and I was going as fast as I could to get it back on before they called the class again.

IMO, if TexasMotorplex won't commit, try San Anotonio or Houston both locations have nice quarter mile tracks.

I'm thankful they had the event despite the challenges they had and I had a good time -- thanks PSN !

A new track is being built just 20 miles (dirt work started)SouthEast of Dallas on 175. Word is it will be a 1/4 mile. You bet DAPA will keep a eye on it, might be a good place for the next PSN.

I didn't go for 2 reasons. My car wasn't ready and I could not find a passenger with the late notice. I REALLY wanted to be there though!

Was loaded up and ready.
Woke up at 4am so sick I had to crawl to bathroom. Then it rained. I wisely decided to stay in bed.

I'm not sure of the costs for the San Antonio track but they have always been very nice, laid back track when I have been there. Much nicer than the Houston Baytown track. I think it alos is fairly expensive is why there are few club events there.

I suggest that moving the event out of the Dallas area will not work. It is a Dallas based club with the general membership from that area for one and there are (or were) many that travel to the event from elsewhere. The extra travel distance "south" will kill it for many and only benifts a few.

The vast majority of our cars are more suited to 1/4 mile racing than 1/8 mile.

My suggestion to move it to Baytown wasn't for the benefit of the few(although it would be closer for me) but rather an event as a whole.
Houston Raceway Park MIGHT be more accomodating to the club/event organizers than those clowns at Ennis.
As I stated earlier, the club has always had a difficult time dealing with the Motorplex and with that, come scheduling issues and costs which usually make it very frustrating to plan the event.
I'm all for a new venue even if I have to travel "out of town".

IMO, the key is commitment (asside from track quality). If the Motorplex won't commit, you can't plan. If you can't plan you get poor turn out and frustrated folks... almost like what we had this year

As long as we continue to have the annual event, I'm happy. A low turn out PSN is better then no PSN and it's a heck of a lot better then even a good day at the office!!

You know, the year IS big enough to have the PSN in the spring and another pontiac related event in the fall in houston should the houston boys decide to put something together........

What do you guys think about rotating the PSN between Dallas, Houston and San Antonio? Maybe two-three years in Houston and San Antonio and back to Dallas. What do you think!

I spoke with George Reeves and expressed an interest in possibly moving the Southern Nationals to the San Antonio area. We usually plan one of the largest "open" car shows in the area in the month of September. We have had an average of 125 entries in the last 3 years. I know that with an all Pontiac show major planning is involved. George offered advice and help with what he could.
Our club is the South Central Texas Chapter of POCI and we have 55 members and growing. Several members are very interested in trying to make the Southern Nationals happen in San Antonio. We are scouting some locations that can hold 200 cars to display and maybe 40-50 trucks with trailers. Hotels that are in close proximity to the show and near some San Antonio attractions and again with space to park truck & trailers. We have a new 1/4 mile racetrack in Marion (just 20 minutes outside of SA) that recently hosted the first Super Chevy Show in the San Antonio area.
I am the new president of this club and I know I can get at least 15 dedicated members that could pull this off. Our September open car show planning is underway so this next year may be tight for us but we are definatly shooting to organize something for 2007.
If we were to have an all Pontiac show and race in the San Antonio Area, how many would consider the drive down to the River city?

I'd consider trailering to SA or houston for an event. I'd really like to see more than one event in this area per year; maybe the PSN could stay at the motorplex and we could have another event in SA or houston. That would be neat.

When doing future planning please consider the partcipant that travels long distances. It is far easier to justify a long trip for a multiple day event such as Pontiac Heaven and last years PSN, both three day events.

Yes, if we do plan an event like this, we will certainly consider a kick off party or maybe a Saturday night dinner?? Our members have had some good suggestions. Let us know what you think.

I think if you move it further south you are just gonna get the Texans to come - With gas as high as it is that is what is killing it - too far to drive to now - I didn't come this yr. because they didn't have HPP there doing the Pavement Pounders Shootout and gas prices...

Rons comment about more than one day of racing is a good point. Many that would spend two days on the road with time and expense would like to race at least two days.

South texas chapter of POCI..........

Plenty of accomodating areas around the Rivercity facility. New Braunfels is close by and gives an alternative area for lodging and maybe a cooling trip down the Guadalupe River. The historic town of Gruene is just around the corner. A tourist favorite with shopping, restaurants and night life fun.
Easily make a memorable 3 day event.
