Default Lowest E.T. with a Tremec TKO?

Plenty of you are running TKO transmissions now. So, what is the floor on e.t. with one of these?

Is there a point where one cannot shift fast enough to use it, and, if so, where is that point? Nines? Eights?

Who is running 11s?

Step up with your times . . .

A friend of mine ran 10.89 @ 127 a few weeks ago with a tremec TKO 500. (non Pontiac).

I will be installing a TKO 600 in my JUDGE this winter with hopes of dipping into the low 11's high 10's for next season.

Not that fast, but it should be in the mid 11's if I ever go back to the drag strip.

11.86 last year picked up .3 in the 1/8 this year and added 5 mph..

My 60 ft dropped by a tenth or so but I never got a good full run in. My car did 11.8's on a good day with the old 4 speed. I'm hoping to get down around 11.6 with my tko-600.

My best was a 12.54 @ 110, with a bad 1.87 60'. I have the TKO 600 with a 2.87 1st and a .82 overdrive. Great trany, I have a 256/260 duration cam and got 18.75 MPG on a 300 mile trip. I am still hoping for low 12's and maybe a high 11's, once I can figuer out how to launch!!!

Some pictures in the link of the tunnel mods I had to make.

Cool

On this board, FASTGTO runs high to mid 11-s w/a Tremec TKO 600
I've heard of guys going into the 8's with tremec 5 speeds.
My opinion ?
When you're in to 8's, you better keep that bugger on the straight and narrow and you've got better things to do than rowing gears !
And this is from a guy that love 4- speeds

Finally got her into the 11's late last year and haven't been out this year yet (just got married), but going to Atco next week... I feel like a kid on christmas eve! Any way my TKO is about 4 years old before the 500 or 600. 3.27 1st , and .068 5th. Before this trans I lunched two muncies and since, I've sheared wheel studs and made kind of a mess of a 12 bolt. ALL on bfg drag radials! Oh and twisted the factory (tremec) slip yoke. something to watch!? Anyway I love this gear box. 18-20 something mpg on trips and I drive to the corner, to the shore or to the track. As far as shifting that wont be holding me up for a while. and when I figure out how to launch it I may start to see decent 60's and ET's to match my mph. If attachment works I'm on the left.

I know several local mustang guys with tremecs going 10-11's or better. I've heard of 9 second passes, but I've never seen one in person

Superchiken, Odd that the guy in the right lane was 3 mph slower than you but half a second quicker?

Yeah, all my timeslips look like that. A stick car will always mph higher than an auto. But look at the 60' -1.957 thats real slow for that et or mph. Ilet the clutch fly at 4000 and it hooked and fell on its face before I was into the gas hard enough. I'm still trying to find a happy launch technique. The top end charge of this car is a real blast. Ray

not odd at all...look at the 60 ft. times.

my car last week is an even better example. i ran 10.47 @ 125 with a 1.44 60 ft. after making some changes to the car to help with traction. earlier this year it went quicker (10.43) and faster (128) with a worse (1.49) 60 ft. time.

my 97 trans am "only" ran 11.90's, but it went almost 120 mph. that would have been good enough for low 11's with an automatic transmission as opposed to the T-56.

Default 11.8?

So, 11.8 is the fastest Pontiac/Tremec combo out there?

Don't take this wrong guys, but...why are the 60's so slow? You would think that the Tremec with the low 1st woould launch well? How about shifting at the track? Is the 2-3 easy to miss and go to 5? -Jim

I haven't done any hard shifting with my TKO yet, but I can't see why any of the gears would be easy to miss. The gates are very positively located by the shifter and You have to push it over to the right to get it to the 5th gate. In other words it shifts just like a muncie, only much easier to get it into the gears than a muncie.

on full power shifts I have missed 3rd a couple times.I believe for a true drag race trans it needs a rev-5th lock out.I usually lift on the 2nd-3rd shift now.My car has the older 500 with 3.27 first gear and 4.56s in the back,1.70s 60 fts.I believe with the 600 first gear it would be 1.60 60fts.Tom

The gates are very close together on that tranny. Maybe I'll have the same trouble when I get to pound on mine a little. The gates narrower than my muncie was so I might overshove the shifter into the "taint" area until I get used to it. I can't wait to get to grab some gears!
