Default Keep the Original Engine? 67 Lemans

I have a 67 Lemans Convert. that is fairly modified. 400ci, 700r4, 4w wheel disc, 18's, supension mods, shaker hood, shaved some emblems, pro-touring look, blazing copper metallic with parchment interior. Point of mentioning the above is to make clear the car is not going back to stock ever.

My issue is that I have the original 326 that needs to be rebuilt in the corner of my garage, I have the protect o plate confirming it is the original engine. With the Lemans not sure if the whole numbers matching matters. I want to toss the original engine but thought I'd get a second opinion.

Thanks,
Jason

I'd sell or part out the engine. With a car modified as you described even if you do ever sell it (which it appears you won't) the buyer would be buying it for the mods already done and won't want to go back to a wheezer 326. They could go out and get a nice unmodified car alot cheaper anyway. Someone in your area maybe can use the 326 if they are upgrading from a OHC-6 or have a dead 326 themselves. If not, you could strip the engine for parts. Many of the 326 components such as timing cover, balancer, fuel pump eccentric, distributor, valley pan, oil pan, rods, crank, and more can be used on any other Pontiac motor. Then you would have garage space plus some cash. Just my opinion. Good Luck
