Completely gutted the interior of my 64 vert in the process of doing a frame-off on it and what did I happen upon but an original ignition/door lock key, complete with the number code. The key is just like new and feels like it was just cut yesterday, as it apparently has almost neve been used. It was inside the door to the glove box and was rattling around when I removed the door.
I told my wife and she just said, "So?" So now I'm sharing this with people who care!

Well, i got you all beat,
Was putting in new carpet, and tore out the old, under the front driver seat, my grandfather left me a wad of 10's and 20's all dated pre 1963.( most were 195x) Total was $240 if i remember correctly. If I had found it 25 years ago, I wouldda had me a nice party night ![]() I decided to put it under the xmas tree for my mom, from dad. I had flattened the bills all out and put in plastic holders. When she realized what it was, and where it came from, she started to cry.. |

Neat find!
When I lifted the rug on my '67, I found several coins from 1966. They either fell out of someone's pocket at the factory, or they put them there on purpose. Cool beans! Frank

Thats awesome. I have a similar story, where I was removing the gas tank from my 63 catalina, and while messing with the gas cap, I found one of those black magnetic key holders inside the quarter panel behind the gas door. Sure enough, it had an almost new brass ignition key. Now I have 2.
![]() Not as shiny as yours though. Now if I could just find a copper 1943 penny under the seat somewhere... Last edited by ebq5531; 03-28-2006 at 01:48 PM. |

I found a doctors excuse note for GM worker in one of my cars, an apple pie box (small size) under carpet, a knife, cig pack like they gave to military with four smashed Boros in it, couple of roach clips (not the bug kind) last car I bought found bunch of silver coins. Clips, Kinfe and coins were from owners and down in carpet/seats.

My 64 had been sitting in the hay loft of an old barn for 25 years before I bought it, so it had become a drop zone for lots of swallows and a home to some mice.
Well I decided that the carpet and head liner definately had to be replaced. So I gave my 13 year old the task of getting the front buckets out so that we could pull out the carpet. Well when he peeled the carpet back where the front half and back half over lap he found that the car was not a virgin. He pulled out a 3 pack of Trojans. Only one left in the pack. I keep it in the ash tray as a lost treasure.
