1969 GTO

So, I put headers on, what a pain.....but now I can't remember where all the wires go to the starter. Colors won't mean anything to me since the wiring was funky. It has a solenoid on the starter and fender well. I ran the positive battery cable to the large post on the starter and 2 wires from the solenoid on the fender well to the starter (1 to the large post and 1 to the small post marked "R" I believe). There is 1 more wire coming from thru the firewall which I also put on the large post on the starter. Now all I hear is a "clunk" coming from the solenoid on the fender well when I turn the key over and the car won't turn over. I have interior lights when I have it hooked up. Do I have all this backwards? I'm obviously a novice when it comes to this so any help would be appreciated. My next purchase will be a book. Thanks

Mike,
if you wire it according to the link i posted, you will not have any "hot" wires at the starter while running. only when starting the car.
that other large wire, you put to the starter, i would put it to the hot side of the ford solenoid.
i would trace it to find out what it is for.
