Judge Seat Belt Question
What is the best way to clean the seat belts on my 70 Judge. They are green and will be hard to replace. They have the usual gunk and grime on them from a 36 year old car. Can I soak them in some combination of solvent, cleaner or soap? Any suggestions? They are currently not in the car so I can soak them in a bucket or something. But soak in what?

Seatbelt cleaner
Use T S P soap you should be able to find it at most grocery stores (red and white box) it works great . I used it on mine . It has been around for years
and is a very mild non phosphate white soap. Fill the bucket up with water and put a cup of soap in and let your belts soak for a while give them a gentle scrub , rinse and you should have new looking belts .

ewwww try anyone who cleans carpets for a living... there are some really good cleaners out there. Using enzymes instead of bleaches.........

I used Woollite... mixed it in a bucket and let them soak draped over the rim so that the buckles didn't get wet. Used a soft nylon brush to scrub them. Just make sure to be careful around the date/manufacturer tag. They look great and are much more pliable.

Ditto on the Woolite, let them soak overnight and take them to a car wash and pressure wash them.

Dishwasher works great just turn off the heat cycle. Make sure she is a work or you might have trouble.

Ssnake Oyl in East Texas will put the correct new webbing on your belts and reinstall the original date tag that is sewn on your old belts.
If you want them to look nice you've got to replace the webbing. They will also restore your buckles if you desire. |

It's been too long since I had mine done and I've slept since then, but as I recall I thought it was quite reasonable. The biggest problem with old seat belt webbing is that it gets very stiff and loses its flexibility.
Even if you redye them they don't look near as good as new webbing. |

A full set on my car costs $585.00 in 1993 and I have the receipt from the previous owner who had it done!
