All the numbers are there, but my father doesn't own the car anymore, so I was just being a little cautious on the amount of info. And it was a great car. Of course he ended up putting a RAV top half on the original block.

I am comin’ up with $357.29 for the RA option. Exactly $15 off of the 342.29 RA1 cost.

Your Vehicle Label Price = 4530.88 on a 4533.88 count.

3 dollars - What's the Big Problem ?? You don't pay for brakes twice. Pwr Brakes is for 4 wheel power drums. And you don't fool with any of the amounts in the boxes of the BHC. It all comes out to be factored into the list prices - the label price is all you need to worry about as far as prices listed on the BHC.

Keep in mind we are working from option sheets dated January 68 for Bird and Goat. Cammer mentioned a few dollars here and there could be evident, but close enough to evidence Ram1 or Ram2 differention.

Are you referring to the 'options math' you worked up on my RA II? Your numbers looked good to me, what estimates did you miscalculate on?

I've got two more BHC's one for June 17th Pontiac built M21 car & one for a June 24th Baltimore built automatic, that also has PS, PB & disc - I'll run a total & see what comes up.

I have a feeling there won't be any buds.

Yes, you’re missing the destination charge and the power brake charge.

Here is one with manual front disc brakes. In this case it would only be the $63.19 for disc brakes.
The math on this one works out to exactly $473.94 for the RA option. This is exactly the MSRP price in the sales sheets.


Either way Boss, it’s a RA car. To me any 68 R/A F/B or GTO is cool!



Couple thoughts,
What I still don’t understand is when or how the cut-off took place?
There had to be an exact date that the option changed for orders?

The car distribution sheet is dated May 7, 1968 and the Blueprint is dated May 16, 1968. Being that the same option code is used, when would the dealer charge the new price? If a guy ordered a RA car on May 6th, what did he get?

If we were to take the May 7 date as the start and the June 12th date as the last date, it’s amazing that as many of the RA2 cars were actually built. That is just 5 weeks to order a car so very late in the model year and it cost over $100 more. To me it sounds like it might have been a tough sale.

On the Ram2 Bird:

I used the wrong science - and overcharged for the "400" option, and overcharged the 4spd option. I was using the info from the upper right section of page 1 Fbird prices for option #345. But applied it incorrectly.

The #345 - "400" option should be 273.83 (if you upgrade to an auto or 4spd - you get an allowance for leaving the 3spd behind).
The 358.09 charge I used is ONLY IF you stay with a 3spd manual.

The #358 - 4spd option should be 184.31 (just like GTO). I used the price from that same upper right hand section (273.83) - which was completely the wrong science.

So I overcharged on those two.
I didn't add in the destination charge.
I didn't add in for the dual exhaust. (which seems right not to - but may be wrong?)
There were two option boxes I couldn't make relation with - that may actually be for a charged item(s).

Anyway, when I straiten out what I did, and add for dual exhaust and add for destination, I'm still $61.29 short/under the label price on your Car.

It has no question marks or unknowns involved really - like unknown option boxes or pwr drum/disc hypothesis. I would say we could use it as a standard for the science on doing GTO's. Until otherwise.

On the Birds - I need some help in here.

there is no "adder" for dual exhaust its part of package.
I posted all the prices that pertain to the L67 option.
That is if you were to take a base GTO or Firebird and add
ONLY the options required for that motor.
You guys can plug in your options and dest.charges to get the total.

Firebird Red book has prices for options so I can try that manyana....

BTW dual exhaust is definitely a no cost option.

As is often the case, there were 2 or 3 options on my BH that dont coincide to options specifically listed on the PHS option sheet. "Mystery" options if you will. Some no cost (some cost?)

One would think a FULL BH decode list isnt too much to ask for the 50 bucks we pay each time. (Id take that over the 'bw generic media pic' and AMA specs for the billionth time) :-)

What about any speedo gauge adj on Autos ?

One thing that shows about the two later built Ram1 GTO's you and Brian posted. They both conformed to a $15 increase for that option at later point. Every lit bit we know helps.

Man I'm sorry for getting your hopes up on that option wh0re automatic. What is it's cowl date 04E, 05A, 05B ? Was billed May 8, 68.

I didn't understand the charge for clock & then have it included in the gauges again also - but who knows. The $8 mistake would be exact for trunk mat, but nothing is on the card for that.

No sweat on the goof, it's still going to have a II in it, for some reason I've had more luck finding those motors than the I's.
