Keith is that a 73 SD455 T/A on the cover of SS and the 63 Tempest looks like it could be the MT SD421 that Jim Christensen bought without the 749 A/FX #'s on the door.

Keith- thanks for posting those four photos of Mickey, Jack Chrisman, and the Pontiac hemi dragster. That's the first time I've seen them- were they in a publication or do they belong to some individual? Where were they taken- the landscape doesn't appear to be Raceway Park where they won the '62 Nationals in Indy?

Not sure on that T/A; It was something I just grabbed from the pile and I don't think there were any additional details given. Re: the '63 Tempests - they all pretty much looked the same, except for a piece of masking tape stuck here or there. George's car stayed local in Michigan for a while and at one time was owned by collector (and Pontiac employee) Dimitri Toth. We had an opportunity to buy it probably in the mid 70's, for about $3600, but decided that was too much to pay since it was completely disassembled. It eventually found it's way to Arizona, to the McGroder collection, where the restoration was completed. From there it went to Minnesota where it is owned by "F.E.". The photo shown was taken by Guy Pauquette at an annual show held there. K

A little off the subject and not Pontiac related, but here is a pic of a Pit Pass circa 1956 at Gainesville Speedway (GA). It's under Lake Lanier now. Also is a pic of my dad's 40 Ford that he drag raced there. He was one of the first in our area to install a SBC in a 40 Ford. These pics are just before he was killed in the car in July of 1956.

M/T dragster with cool wagon tow vehicle probably in his front yard. Notice the mag hanging off the front of the engine....anyone ever see that setup before?

Looks mighty strong there b man. but, I would hate to have the job to run the valves and do the tune up on that baby! Imagine checking all exhaust temps and having to tune nozzles on that many cyls.....and then having to turn it around for the next round. Imagine the bottom end guys duties. Probably would need6-10 bottome end guys to keep on top of it.
I guess this it the ultimate response to maximum displacement! Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org "Real Pontiacs only...no corporate nonsense!"
