No engine or tranny. This is just a test fit. Still have more body work to do. Just want the car in one piece. Not enough room to have body panels scattered around.

pontiac6269----Great that your getting some of the final fitting done on the body. 20 years is a long time. My '69 last had a state inspection back in '89. Owned it since '76. Marriage, house, infants, raising kids, college, and other bumps in the road stalled the restoration of the car. However, it is now underway. Hopefully, I'm targeting spring of '10 to at least have it back together----with or without the final paint. Good luck in finishing your car.

Sounds familiar. I bought mine in 1988. Finishing college, marriage, kids, houses, and assorted bumps in roads kept my project on the back burner (see my thread about driving my Judge for the first time, 19 years after I bought it).
The key is not to give up. Don't sell it. I'm finally starting to see progress. Looks like you have a lot of the body ready to go. Good luck, and keep us posted! |

It's a standard YS 400, turbo 400 car. The only original drivetrain piece is the transmission, has the Olds 0 style 12 bolt with 3.08 gears. What engine I plan on using is undecided at the time. The thing that stalled me was buying other cars. I actually tried selling it once, no one really wanted to buy a car in pieces, plus I never would of got out what I had stuck in it at the time. Thanks.

20 years is a long time but ive been on mine since 99 myself.
just not steady work. actually what really slowed me down was the lack of being able to get all the finising parts i needed. thx to py and a couple other resto shops and some great people on here its finally being finished. got my motor being finished next week.. i had it ready to roll in the paint room but had to wait about a month due to other life things and by the time i was gonna paint it,,,,i noticed 2 small 1/2 inch paint cracks in one quarter.... needless to say i had to strip it all the way down to metal and start all over.. too much paint on it and too many corners cut.. i got my "check" paint on it now and once the motor is in its off for the finish paint and then its DRIVE TIME!! DONT GIVE UP,,,ITLL BE WELL WORTH IT |

Keep it goin! Everything I've done so far hasn't cost much and I'm going like gangbusters. When I start having to work more side jobs to get $$$ to fund it, time is gonna drag me down. I'm days away from pullin that old chassis out of there. My first bump is gonna be the rotisserie expence. I don't know how I'm gonna wait that long to build up funds to get one.

Thanks for all the encouragement, I plan on work on it now that I have most of my other projects out of the way. I'll post pics of progress on this thread.

I just passed the 9-year anniversary myself. Bought plates and tabs in Sept, been driving it around without any glass, interior, or hood. Looks like a rat-rod, but it's a kick in the pants!

Took a step backwards. Had to cut the welds on the rear brace of the passenger fender. Realign it to the door, remove the door and reweld it with it attatch to the car. Found out that welding the brace to the fender off the car made for to tight of a fit over the cowl and made the fender stick out a 1/4" past the door.

20 YEARS???
Seriously, I don't know how you guys do it. I got very impatient doing my engine build and engine bay detail - that took 6+ months. You have my respect and admiration.
