Could very possibly be in storage at Wright Patterson AFB for the Air Force Museum and waiting to be restored or prepared for an exhibit - or at the Smithsonian in DC, waiting for the same thing.

So many GREAT pics on this thread!
A few that bring back fond memories for me as a kid in the late 50's / early 60's. Wanted Dead or Alive with one of Hollywoods best ever - Steve McQueen. Last two pics are my cap guns still in the original box.

Here are a few I dug up after having looked at the entire 34 Pgs.
#1 is Jungle Pam. I hope it is not over the limit for the Mods, but it is too funny to pass up. I like how Hurst graduated to a 421 car in '66 from the 389 in '65. All that advertising must have paid off! Kudos to Steve for all the Pontiacs and other stuff he has saved over the years and for sharing. What Kind of Music did you listen to in your original pro touring GTO? I know what I would have been playing on the cassette machine!

Great photo! That's Jack "Doc" Watson facing the camera, just over the hood of the car. Miss Hurst looks a heck of a lot like Mary Tyler Moore in this photo.

Also took it skiing and snow boarding too in the winter. Still think of thse days when I often drive that way. Superior to Globe to Show Low to Greer area. wire open.! incredible. Cannot wait to do it again someday. There are many great twisty mountain roads in Az.

This is XB-70 air vehicle #2 right before it crashed. The flames is the little F104 that collided with it. 2 died 1966
The XB70 was originally to replace the B52 and flew at 3 times the speed of sound. Built by North American Aviation in Ca. This plane had twin tails, one is already broken off from the collision. This was supposed to be a photo opp. There is also shown a F4 and a pair of T38s. One XB 70 remains at Dayton Air Force museum.

Here are some slides my Dad took-late 50's early 60's:
1st is my Mom and brother-mid '58, car is a '56 Olds. 2nd is my Mom with my brother in spring '59-car is a '59 Pontiac. 3rd is a few of us kids at our childhood home-'61 or '62. (53 Chevy in driveway) 4th is my Mom, me and my brothers and sister '61 or '62 (58 Olds Super 88 in driveway) My Mom told me the 59 Pontiac had to go when the twins were born (me and my brother in March '59). It was replaced with the brown 53 Chevy. Later came the '58 Oldsmobile. |

I thought this was a cool photo. The crew of Apollo 12 received new 1969 Corvette 427's, leased to them for $1 for a year by a dealership, in co-operation with GM. The dealership was associated with Smokey Yunick years earlier, so they wore the Smokey gold/black paint scheme.
Astronauts were : Pete Conrad, Dick Gordon and Al Bean. Every NASA astronaut drove a new Corvette back in the day, and took advantage of their status with the ladies. Only exception was John Glenn, who drove a Hillman Minx.
