Has anyone cut the Door hinge pins, to be able to say "it's easy" to have removable doors?

I have me reasons to need removable 68GTO doors.

look into race car stuff, you can buy hinges that you open the door, and lift up the door and it comes off....

Want to know about the original GM hinges, particularly if any complication occurs at the Spring-loaded Paw.

well..they are servicable, you pull the pin to replace the bushings, so why not...theres a tool to put the spring in, but you may not need the spring, it holds the door open, other than that its along for the ride...ive put literally 100s of bushings in the hinges over the years

I want to retain the Spring& Paw operation.

Car is done, & hinges are excellent: So thinking about Replacement Pins with cotter-style pin-pulls

Not being smart here.... Why do you need to take the doors on and off.????

Is this just for a one time deal? I installed my top pins upsidedown so the doors could be removed at painting time while leaving the front clip installed. It works great. I wrapped the springs with wire, then cut the wire to let them snap back in palce. This is easier said then done, but it works well.

ive been pondering away at just how id go about painting my jambs and such and then reassemle without scratching stuff up trying to re assemble the front!


i will be investigating this idea too
