I have a 11 bolt that I originally needed to "adjust" the clearance, otherwise mine would puke coolant after shut down. No more, tho.

I believe there is a 50+ page post that has pretty convincing data to contradict Mr. Butlers theory, plus I have my own data that says adjusting the timing and carb mixtures won't stop the problem I was having with my own 428 in my own stockcar. If that was true why would Detroit have engineers whose job it is just to optimize cooling systems, sorry I don't subscribe to his theory.

A big thank you to Dan67, GT182 and Old Goat 67 for helping me get my 66 back on the road. These three went way out of their way to help a fellow PY'er. The divider plates came from Dan on Wed. morning and the SS plate came from Gary at noon today. I put it together with the SS recontoured plate and I've got plenty of flow. Works great. I'll wait til Cadone gets the correct impellers and the return the SS to Gary and use the original plate. Thanks again.

Charles and I talked to Cardone and Ames Eng. yesterday. BTW... to make thing a bit clearer, this is not the Ames that is selling us parts in the catalog. Things are still at a stand still until Ames and Cardone talk directly to each other. We/ve identified the problem... copies of the original rear divider plate is needed in stainless steel.
I know this is frustrating as all hell, and it is for us too. We've done just about all we can, short of having the correct 8 bolt rear divider plate made ourselves. Anyone got the money to help get that going? I sure don't. ![]() As for the correct pump, call Cardone and ask for it. Tell them it's the pump without the shaved vanes. My understanding is that they have some of these in stock that were never shaved down. But, they are mixed in with the incorrect ones. Try this number that Dan gave above.... 215-912-3000 and ask for Tech Support, or ask to speak to Product Management in Pump Division. I have no 800 number for them.

Corporate wheels turn slowly...I suggest anyone who is not driving their caryet this season waitng for Cardone.....stop waiting.
Put it together as best as you can or the season will end with your car in the garage. I'm just cynical. George

Well, I just sent an email to both of the contacts in both companies pleading with them to get together to rectify the situation for us.
We should start a new thread with a poll attached, so we can have numbers to give them. We'll see what we'll see! Charles |

Is this the correct Cardone remanufactured water pump?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAZ-58-299/?rtype=10 This looks to be the 68 pump. Will i be able to get these pumps through the local Arnold motor supply,Napa and O'reillys, when available? It doesn't look as though cardone has 69-up yet. Summit still has the stamped steel impellers http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAZ-58-303/?rtype=10 Last edited by gene simmons; 06-25-2011 at 09:12 AM. Reason: editing mistake |

The 58-299 is the correct pump for the 8 bolt setup from Cardone, BUT and I say BUT, most you will find have the shorter vanes which will not work good with the original plates!
IF you are LUCKY enough to get one with the vanes about 3/4" high and a curve to them, you'll probably be OK. Having said that, I would NOT buy one mail order. I had O'Reilly's get four of them shipped to my local store and one had the correct impeller. I went with my plates in hand, so Guess which one I came home with? End of overheating! I do not know the part # for the 11 bolt one. Maybe someone else does. Charles |
