FINALLY changing over my 70 Le Mans to a 4 bbl. 350/4 sp/3.08. Going with stock 11 heads, slight port, screw in studs, cut .020-.030. Likey going with a Melling SPC-7 068 equivalent cam with Rhoads lifters. Daily driver with a little more, not a race car.
Probably just run down to Advance to get a rebuilt stock unit, I imagine any 70 400 application would work? Numbers matching not an issue. |

Not knowing what your budget is.....
A parts store is alleged to be the worst place to buy a crab. A reman carb can be a hodge podge of parts thrown together. You could be buying a genuine headache w/ no way of making it work correctly. Call Cliff, and see if he's possibly got something on the shelf, or look on e-bay for a new carb, if possible.... A friend gave me a Q-Jet, I was overjoyed, until I de-crudded it, and found the reman sticker on it.....

i had a parts store rebuilder once, never again what a nightmare. couldn't get the car to run right. bought a new spread bore holley with an electric choke, about 10 minutes of external adjustments and it runs great. on a stock 400 by the way.
if you have to have a Q-jet, imo, find a good core and put a kit in it yourself or i bet rich at M&R engines could hook you up. |

I have a rebuilt carb from a 74 Firebird 455 I'd sale for 115 + shipping. I bought it from another member here on PY and I didn't end up using it. There are some pics if you search on my user name.
