I had an 99 F-150 (v-8, 4x4 Lariat) for about 11 years. Very rarely did I have the need to tow anything. Did all I asked of it. I'd buy another.
"What are you going to use it for?" Should be the question that you need to ask yourself though. From from what I hear from others, some shine over others in medium and heavy duty demands. My .02

If I were to buy a new full size truck, it'd be a Ford all day long. No question.
Never owned a Ford product, but I think they are making great strides in build quality and features/power/cosmetics. They build the best looking tucks by far. I'm sure many will dispute the EcoBoost or even the Scorpion diesel's quality issues, but they are the top in their class with power as well. I have driven two Scorpions trucks and have been extremely impressed (towing or empty). Chevy Silverado is just plain fugly and Dodge, er RAM has lost me with the past Chrysler products I have owned.

Ecoboost haters are in the house. Love your trucks - you purchased them! Regardless of what you drive/like, I find it difficult to fathom that people would not respect what Ford has achieved with their ecoboost line of engines. From a durability standpoint, one can only rely on their torture test results. Still, I have not seen issues in forums/blogs/media with durability to date. In addition, the lighter engine makes steering/handling/ride better.
Hate all you like. Ford took the risk, did the engineering, made the investment, did the testing and has produced a 3.5 liter engine (217 Cubic inch) that outperforms the 6.2 liter (~384 Cubic inch) GM product. Ecoboost - 420 lb/ft @ 2,500 RPM, 90% TQ from 1700-5000 RPM, 365 HP @ 5,500 RPM 6.2 - 417 lb/ft @ 4,300 RPM, 403 HP @ 5,700 RPM
