I'm finally getting around to installing the insulation in the interior. I did some reading on the different products available and it was very confusing, so many different options and opinions to sort through. I eventually decided on a product called "Second Skin." It was rated better than Dyna Mat and costs less. Before I could install it I needed to clean the underside of the roof. Before I got the car a previous owner had installed a later style cardboard headliner. It appears they glued it to the roof as there was a lot of old glue on the metal that needed to be cleaned off in order to get a flat surface for the insulation to stick to. What a pain in the a$$ that was. I used a product called "Goof Off" and it seemed like it took forever. Pictures one and two are of the roof before I started, and picture three is after I finished cleaning it.

The floors in this car are in really good shape so they didn't need a lot of prep. I just scraped of the old factory insulation and used degreaser on the floors. This Second Skin stuff if pretty easy to use. You just peel of the back and stick it on, then use a roller to work out the air bubbles.

looks great Chris, I'm doing my interior last as well and went with Raammat for noise combined with Ensolite for a heat barrier on top. Looks like a very similar product to what you're using. Are you doing anything under the door panels or behind the rear seat?

Yes, I intend to do the rear bulkhead and the doors but it's 105 degrees in the garage right now so I'll probably finish up on Wednesday morning. My garage gets afternoon sun, so after about 2:00 PM it's just too hot. I'm not sure yet where to put the insulation on the doors, on the inside of the door skin or on the backside of the door panel. Any thoughts on this?

we've been having the 100+ heat a lot as well so my desire to work for more than a few hours at a time is very limited! Here is a link to the install recommendations for the product I bought which is mainly a sound/resonance deadener. They have different recommendations for door with speakers and doors without:

I've always placed it on the inside of the door skin itself. That really helps to eliminate the hollow drum sound that comes from the door. You don't need much for it to really make a big difference, usually 2 or 3 rectangular pieces about 6" x 12" are plenty.

The carpet is in. I'll probably try and install the console tomorrow. Sure wish I had the door panels and seat covers. I ordered then from Legendary in January and the vinyl has been on back order since then. The last I heard from them it was supposed to be in last week and maybe I would have my stuff by mid-July. That would be nice, although the original plan was to have the seats already done by now so I could just go ahead and install them. As it is, I had to put the seats with the aftermarket seat covers back in the car. They don't look terrible, but they're not what I want. If Legendary can't get me the stuff soon I may just go ahead and order the stuff from PUI.

Doug,
I have not been there in years. Is it every Friday night, or once a month? |

Chris,
There is a molded area for the shifter porch on a four speed carpet. I can't speak to the auto one. |

Legendary sent me an email yesterday saying the vinyl arrived and they hope to have my order competed and shipped by July 20th. Maybe the car will be ready for HAN after all.
