Few more points of interest.....I ran a towing business for 25 plus years and I recall in New Jersey back around then there was a place building these Smokey Bandit cars or was modifying?

I remember because I had to tow one or pick one up at their shop. Maybe some NJ residents back then can shed more light on that.

On a side not, Burt Reynolds is in the hospital today.....on another side note: he used to own a Buick GNX and was a customer of ours back whern the GNX was new....what made his GNX unique to him was he had the name of his college embroidered in the head rest. He resided at that time and perhaps still does in Jupiter, Florida.

On still another side note.....the years have been kind to Sally Fields....she still looks good.

On another note.....frankly I can;t see the values associated with these cars heavy on smog equipment, low on horsepower and most were automatics....

Nice car, but I wouldn't put any value on the Bandit stickers. There was a dealer up here who got an endorsement from Burt Reynolds (did a few TV and radio spots) and stuck some labels on a few cars and trucks to help sell them back in the day.

I stopped to look at a T/A for sale a couple of years ago and was surprised to see a 305 under the hood with a four speed. I was thinking along the lines that a roller 383 stroker engine would make that a fun ride or even a healthy 350 SBC. Everything bolts right up. I really do prefer my Pontiac's, Pontiac powered though.

The window sticker showed the rear deck spoiler as an option.I never seen a Trans AM without one.

I would have loved to have met the original cast of the movie. They seemed like a really neat group and they had a ball making the first one from everything I've read and seen. Yep, Sally is still a cutie! She'll always be the "Frog" to me. I was 12 when Smokey and the Bandit came out. Sally... oh my goodness! God bless America and Sally Field, what a cutie! Now, for all those WAY WAY to young to remember... Envision her in a nuns outfit flying through the air... I remember! My personal favorites of Burt's movies were "The Longest Yard", "White Lightning", "Gator", "Smokey and the Bandit", "Sharky's Machine" and "Hooper".

Back to the topic... The car is a smog era TA at best. I lived through them and they were OK and they handle well and go fast for the era but... It's a smog era car along with all the issues listed above. My car is a smog era car and had it not been modified so it would actually haul ass and also been around me since I was 19 I don't think I'd own it. Just me...
