She did good. I thought Danica/Biffle/Dale Jr let Johnson go too long without making a move.

Should have made the move with 2 to go. But a top ten at Daytona is great.

I don't know what to think about her performance. To me, it looked like she was in it for the ride, not racing to win. And, she needs to work on her pit exits.

NASCAR viewership had to be at an all-time high today with Danica in it to the end.

Don't follow Nascar much but it would seem to me she did well.

She did well...but I think Dale Jr. got tired of waiting for her to pull out so he blew by her and got second....he could have been pushing her butt past Jimmy !!!

IMHO:
When she finally 'took' the lead, it was only because Micheal Waltrip sandbagged on that restart to allow her to 'make history'. Way to take one for the good of the sport, Mikey. Male chivalry has no place on the track. You just wussified NASCAR. |

Todays race was one of the most boring 500's ever. (with the exception of seeing some junk toyotas blow up!)
She only did "good" because she always rode in the high lane and never tried to pass, and nobody was doing any passing up front, she always lost spots coming off pit road under green, but would pick up a few under caution since she had the first pit, and the crew chief called for just gas on the last caution that she came in, when most people took tires and got her out first.

She totally played it safe and fell in line and followed the leaders, led one lap when she stayed out while the leaders pitted. Uninspiring performance and was fortunate all the wrecks were behind her. She's fortunate with the new gen car it's so hard to pass that the whole race was a freight train. Anyone that ventured to the lower groove lost positions for the most part and when she had to restart on the low groove she got to the upper groove ASAP.
To me the whole race was boring for the most part because with all the bitchin about making the cars look stock they totally screwed up the ability to pass. The only other super speedway race I can think of in recent times that was as lackluster is when NASCAR forbade the drivers from touching bumpers at Talladega a few years ago, The drivers were so scared that they'd be black flagged they just followed the leader most of the race. We'll see how she performs when they get to a track where they can pass and not run around like a freight train with 43 cars on one track. One thing about today is there was no big one because for the most part there was no cars running side by side because it was so hard to pass. Daytona and Talladega continue to be the worst tracks on the NASCAR schedule and need re-engineered, and until NASCAR decides to spend some money on the tracks instead of making the car owners pay for the continual modifications of the cars to try and solve Bill France Srs. two white elephant problem tracks, these tracks they will continue to have problems with putting on good racing shows. NASCAR, it's not the cars, it's the tracks. One other thing I have constantly said was NASCAR had to police the cars on these 2 tracks to keep the top speeds down and many on this board basically told me that they should let them run as fast as possible at Daytona and Talladega with no restrictor plates. Think about that now as even with restricted engines yesterday in the Nationwide race debris flew up over 70 feet into the stands injuring 14-15 people. Do you still have the same opinion now? What if it were your friends or family were the ones to be hit with the debris? Just curious is all. These tracks are outdated and were designed for cars to run around them at maybe 150 MPH maximum. 190-200 MPH is not going to keep spectators from being injured and NASCAR to this point has been lucky that there have only been limited injuries to fans. A good many driver in the past however have paid the ultimate price.

Brad Yost, the only way you can ensure that no spectators get injured at Talladega/Daytona is to eliminate the races there altogether. Cars can fly into the fence anything over 140-150. What happened yesterday could happen at Charlotte or Atlanta just as easy. I don't think the owners are about to bulldoze Dayt/Tala to drastically reduce the speed that much. And how much more boring would the races become if you were to slow the cars down that much on 2.5 mile. It's a double edge sword.
The fans must understand that there is an inherent risk when they attend such a spectical. Just like the air races at Reno. ![]() I predict Danica will qualify outside the top 20 next week at Phoenix. |

Haven't watched Nascar in a couple years, really, and todays race was the most boring racing I can remember watching. I am glad she was top ten, but no move? What's to lose?

I thought she did good. Needs a lot of help/practice getting off pit road though.
I like her comments after the race on why she didn't make a move, She was afraid that no one would follow her and hang her out to dry. She was protecting her position. If Biffle would have gone, I think she would have followed, hindsight I guess. Otherwise that was a terribly boring race, I don't there was any real green flag passes for the lead once the pack got up to speed.

that was a parade not a race
