Run Wilwoods on my 63 and 61 that go down the strip. 63 run NSS/D 11.50 class. Do have to make your own brackets but there a bolt on.

The Scarebird kit gives you the brackets to adapt the calipers to the Tempest suspension, and all of the part numbers that you need. One thing, you may need to have the machine shop square off the front of the hub along with turning it down to fit inside the disk brake rotor.
Also my tires ended up 1/4 inch farther outboard. The distance of the rotor at the hub. |

I dont belive the Scarebird conversion lets you use the stock wheels. Anyone know if the Willwood kit does?

You are correct, the stock wheels will not clear the calapers. You have to get aftermarket rims.

We picked up a suspension unit from a 62 Tempest and rim - may be able to build a setup that will fit the OEM rim. Should know more in the next week or so.
If not the 83-94 Ranger rim should clear. |

The extra 1/4" offset is a little annoying. The stock wheel backspacing was 4 1/2" and American Torque Thrusts have 3 5/8" BS max. Overall the Skybird setup worked out well! I sent my hubs to Skybird for OD and stud length mods. John

I am thinking the stock wheels won't just bolt on, but don't know why with the Wilwoods.

High 10s with stock wheels? That may be real tough. Or do you mean just on the front?

I will have 2 sets. I have drag slicks on it now but for road driving I want the stock steel wheels.

You can run steel wheels just not the high back space factory wheel. Which in my opinion looks kind of dorky on a performance car. The old dodge Dakota had high back space wheels and looked plain ugly. The scarebird brakes are easily sourced parts work well on my 10.65 62 tempest and have been as fast as 9.90 at 135. The wildwood brakes are drag brakes which do not have cooling fins in them. Will probably work well enough but the whole idea is to get rid of heat. Something a solid disc does not do as well as a vented rotor does. If you run the full hubcap you would never know what wheel was on there. I run the weld rod lights with a 205/70 15 on a 4 inch rim and everything clears exceptionaly well. Rod
