$170 / Month Comcast ripoff bundle:
Basic Cable
Internet
Landline

But if I was a "new" customer, I could sign up for for the exact same service for a year for 40% less than that.

If I didn't have kids, I'd have none of it. Work pays for my smartphone so I could live without cable and internet and still order a pizza online

67Drake -

Around here TWC has a strange pricing structure. I suspect it is the same in your area. When you first sign up you get "the best deal" they have running at the time and it lasts for a year or two. Then, you bump up to the "second best deal" they have running at that time for a year or two. Then, you bump up to the "third best deal" at that time, yadda, yadda, yadda... until you are paying "regular price".

About three months ago my TWC bill (basic cable, phone and internet) jumped about 30 bucks to right about the price you are at now. I called and complained. First they tried to tell me what a great deal I was getting because I wasn't paying "regular price," which they said was something like $220 for this service. After about 30 minutes on the phone I got them to begrudgingly agree to drop my price back to where it was for another year. We'll see what they try to do to me next June.

Before moving up to Maine I had DirectTV (just for TV, not internet - satellite internet was pretty pricey at the time) and was very pleased with it. Very rarely had any signal issues - no more than with regular line cable. I went with TWC when moving up here because the promotional price to get you in was very low at the time. If TWC tries to up my price again, I'll likely go back to DirectTV.

I had DTV and was happy with the DVR and the quality of the picture etc.

I had issues in the rain and I went back to cable.

Wanted to try U-verse but didn't.

Called DTV yesterday. We have the old DVR that only records two shows at once. Told them that Id like the new 5 show DVR upgrade and they upgraded the DVR and the two other boxes on my house at no charge. Includes instillation. NO questions. My current equipment is only 2 1/2 years old.

Good customer service IMO.

DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT have ANYTHING to do with Comcast. I've spent most of the last 2 weeks TRYING to correct issues that arose from our move with them. I've spent a total of 10 hrs. with the corporate headquarters in Philadelphia on the phone (my cellphone) because the %&$#@ dimwits on the 1-800-COMCAST line were either too stupid or didn't understand English well enough to rectify the problems. If our new house wasn't so difficult to wire for satellite, we'd drop Comcast like a bad habit.

Over the last 20 years have had local cable (bought out), Cox Communications cable & internet, ATT U-verse cable & internet, & now just U-verse for home internet along with Direct TV for TV programing. Last change at home was going to Direct TV in July.

While we could record up to 5 or 6 channels at one time on the system w U-verse, most we ever recorded at one time was 2 programs. Looking at what we were paying for, we nearly cut the total bill in half going to Direct TV. Was in nearly $150 a month w U-verse, of course when we told ATT bye-bye they were pleading with us to stay at around a $100 a month. But as as I asked my wife, for how long at right under a $100 a month? Instead, I took their individual receivers to local pack & ship & sent them back. Still have a U-verse bill for home cable internet. Direct TV has been great, wife said it went out twice a few late evenings in early August during torrential rain, was not home, so missed that. With Direct TV promotion they throw in the free NFL Sunday Ticket, which I doubt we will watch much. Just don't have the time to sit around on Sundays, & not much on NFL football. Would have much rather had free MLB Extra innings package, don't have time to watch all the games I'd like but could have had one of the TV's on during a game. Guess I should have made the phone call

I refuse to use Comcrap's phone system. I've been with Vonage since 1997 or there abouts and have had no problems whatsoever. Great price and great service. Plus there's a whole bunch of countries you can call with no extra fees. Not that I need to call anywhere other than the US and Canada, but at least I know I can if I want to.

I'd dump Comcrap in a heatbeat if DTV and Dish could cure the weather problem with their satellite service. Yeah it's been said many don't have a problem with reception due to weather, but I still hear people say they do have problems.

THe wife talked to Direct TV person 2 weeks ago well last night we got DTV. Right now we have more 'watchable' channels than we had with Dish.I get to watch old westerns, military channel and movies besides TCM. Direct just added a racing channel a buddy told me about-not sure of no. yet.The price as of now is about 30 bucks cheaper. Sooo we will wait and see-'ring-a round the rosy game with co's--'next'!?
