It appears to me that certain drivers bring their sponsors with them and that makes them look more viable to the car owners. Look at Danica Patrick>>Go Daddy,Paul Menard>>Menards, Brendan Gaughan>>South Point, John Wes Townly>>Zaxbys and others. Others like Sam Hornish Jr. are left high and dry, unable to get sponsorship to bring to the car owners with.

Considering all the blathering that went on about Danica at the start of the season, it's amazing that she isn't in the top 10....

Earlier this season at Martinsville, the touring princess scored her best finish of the season on a non-restrictor plate track.

Trying to improve on her earlier success here, Stewart Haas Racing brought back the same car that she did so well in last spring. Well, just like in Kansas where she wrecked in turn 1 of the race, she hit the turn 1 wall during practice today....

Appears to be very similar damage to what occurred at KC.

So, she goes to her backup car for qualifying - and had the 3rd slowest time.

Barring several early cautions - I expect her to be off the lead lap within the first 35 laps...

Tony is still 23 points ahead of her, and he's missed 11 races at this point. Just taking a Sunday drive or a tour of the NASCAR tracks during the races, the "Touring Princess" rides again..................................

What a waste of resources, money, cars, and time. I believe the only way he could win a race is if there was a 42 car pileup and she was the only car that missed it, I still wouldn't bet she'd finish being the only car still running. She'd probably hit the wall before she finished the race.

Ricky did not go to a back up, Danica will start 41. I have 1 and 2 in a race pool I have won at least 15 or more race pools this year.

Alvin - you need a better source for racing news.

When I posted about this yesterday - it had already been determined that Ricky would be repairing his car.

May I suggest either www.jayski.com or www.mrn.com

I've found both sites to have very current and accurate info.

Mark Martin is racing again this week. There is a good chance that he will overtake the touring princess (again) as he is only 11 points behind her despite having raced only part time this season (25 races compared to 33).

Maybe she should take up drag racing. The cars are fast and she wouldn't have to negotiate corners at speed...

I'm wondering where all the supporters of Wanica are now?

There were tons of them at the beginning of this thread early in the season, not so much anymore though. :.............LOL

Brad,

I'll be the first to say she's been a BIG disappointment. Looks like a desperate marketing ploy by Brian France and Mike Helton.

Yes, but you can't say that it didn't work. It's got people talking. Next year, who knows, maybe a an alien from outer space or a centenial man.

Good point, Ross, but it HASN'T translated into more ticket sales. Have you noticed how many empty seats there have been at EVERY race this year?

I was at the race in Kansas and there weren't that many empty seats. This shot is from my seats in the first row of the tower at the exit to pit road looking back at the last seats at the last section of seats at the exit to turn 4. The center section was full and my area was quite full also.

Yes, I know, there are some empty seats. But this is not the premier seating area and it's not like some other tracks where whole sections are virtually empty.

If NASCAR had small seating capacities like baseball or football - they'd be sold out.

We had a great time at the races and Kansas Speedway is a very fan friendly track!
