I originally asked why 1967-68 RA GTOs came only with 4.33s while the Firebird had 3.90s standard. I even offered some evidence. But in response I see you've unbuttoned your fly.

The (RamAir) GTO was the premier performance car and by tradition should be the faster from factory.
Serious racers bying (RamAir) Firebirds of course choosed the optional 4.33.

If that thinking was true, why was the gearing for the 1969 RAIV identical?
