Agreed! Yah well Beamer drivers...
![]() I guess we should just crush all the auto SD, HO and GTO's huh. It's what's under the hood that really counts, I know my hands are full trying to keep it straight right up to 3rd.

What a bunch if girls, can't change u joints at 50? Wow. You guys talk like there are no modern manual transmissions. My TKO 600 can handle 900+tq and I don't break anything on the street with my modern aluminum heads and roller cam. By the way you can keep your fuel injection as well

![]() 4L80E or a T400 from Jake's Performance can consistently and reliably handle 1250 HP, your point is? The man said 50 years later, not 50 years old, he should be at least 71 now. If you can't deal with electronic fuel injection it may be exactly why you wouldn't want a automatic transmission. Is it too much technology for you to deal with? Just making a stronger manual transmission with 2 extra gears isn't very high tech or impressive, but they sure are expensive. A 10 speed from a semi will handle 900lb ft of torque too, I wouldn't want one in my street car though............. ![]() Does "Stuck in the sixties" ring a bell?

It's not a question of manhood, at all. Does yours feel threatened? Most things said in here have been in a humorous vein. Some people like to do things for themselves and/or to be challenged. Some prefer to remove the challenge, concentrate on other factors and let the car do the driving. That doesn't reflect on either party, does it? It's all a matter of personal preference and shouldn't be a negative for either party.

SHE demanded that her Camaro have a manual transmission because that is what (in her opinion) a vintage performance car should have. I happen to agree with her. Does that make me a "pussy" instead of a "man"? And if we were to go out shopping for a new Corvette or Camaro today, WE would only look at manual transmissions. For us, having that extra pedal on the left helps us bond with the car. You can buy, build or drive whatever you like. That doesn't make our personal opinions wrong. And it doesn't mean I think I have an extra four inches. |

The post was a question, you can answer it yes or no. There is a ? Question mark at the end of the sentence. Here's the post verbatim: Quote:
You think I take it too seriously? ![]() BTW, Goat Whore is the one that mentioned anyone that didn't want to change U joints was a girl: Quote:
I can speed shift a muncie or a T 10 as fast as most anyone, but I can't beat an automatic for speed and consistency. After driving a semi with a 10 speed for 12 hours 5-6 days a week I have no interest whatsoever in shifting my own personal car on the 36 mile drive home. I have probably shifted a manual transmission as much if not more times than most people on this board, in all kinds of equipment on and off road vehicles. It is monotonous and something I have done too much of and find unnecessary to enjoy in my own personal vehicles. May I suggest that all the manual transmission proponents get a job driving truck, and you'll get your fill of shifting a manual transmission. I lost my need to manually change gears around 1973 after owning and building a 69 GTO street racer, with a T 400 switch pitch convertor with a Trans Go reprogramming kit. 4.33 gears, headers, roller cam, and, recalibrated Q Jet, distributor, and Ram Air. The T 400 took the punishment and just came back for more. No driveline failures as my previous 4 speed GTO and Firebirds had, I was sold on performance automatics. If that's not enough information for anyone about my aversion to owning stick cars I apologize. I'm done posting on the subject, I have 2 projects in my garage awaiting completion that won't get done bantering about automatics and stick cars. BTW, these 2 projects will both have automatic transmissions.

I wouldn't let the tranny type deter me from buying a car I really liked. I'd have bought my GTO either way, which still runs the original 2 speed ST-300 BTW. Also, to be honest, the factory 4 speed setup in my Safari is a big reason that I bought the car. Like my sig says
![]() Being *slightly* biased to that year GTO, I believe you'll love it either way.

GOAT WHORE made a general, tongue-in-cheek, statement. You took it personally. Is it any wonder that I took the use of my screen name personally, as well? I think I'm more justified in doing so than you are, considering the context or your "question".

Again it's an issue where people get on both sides of a line. I guess that's why they make both automatics and sticks. In my everyday driver I prefer an automatic but when I get in my 66 I wouldn't consider anything but a 4 speed. I guess that's just me.

You need to read the whole thread instead of just here and there cherry picking what you think has relevancy. It was insinuated early on in this thread only real men drive stick cars and my comment was it doesn't add 4 inches no matter what they think or say. I reiterated that again asking GW if he thought it did? Read all the comments not a select few and understand the entire topic before you take my statement out of context. I'm perfectly secure in my choices, my manhood, perfectly happy with my life.................... ![]() I'm not entirely sure why I even need to explain this as you have taken offense at a phrase I used that has nothing to do with your screen name. If you really feel a need to discuss this more, PM me.
