Is this one of the rear ends that you don't just fill to the bottom of the fill hole? Ive put in the required 3 pints (1.5 quarts) and sticking my finger in the fill hole I can't even feel the fluid yet. Kind of odd if you ask me.

The fluid should be level with the bottom of the fill hole. Fill it until it comes back out & let it settle, then put the plug in & your good to go.

hmmmm, i must have a gto rear end which needs the 4.5 pints instead of the3.0 pints of the tempest

You can't get straight 80 or 90w anymore. 80w90 is the stuff to use. Use the limited slip additive if you have a limited slip unit. Tighten in a star pattern, like a wheel. Use a short 3/8" drive ratchet and go easy. Just past snug. About 12 foot pounds. Too tight and it'll distort the cover and leak. I have a 3" long Snap-on 3/8" drive ratchet I use for this, as well as trans pans. Works very well. It's a 1/4" drive size ratchet with a 3/8 head.

I used the amsoil 75-110. I torqued it to 19ft/lb and there are no leaks which is good. Hopefully it's not too tight, but it's been days and it looks like it's good so far

You will be golden with the 75W-110. The SAE spec actually changed some years ago. The new 75W-110 is very close to the old 90 specification.

You'll be good. Spot on, in fact.
