Make sure you ck all the crimps on the back of the fuse box and whatever connectors it comes with cost me my sanity every t ime something would work then it wouldn't traced most of my problems to the fuse box crimps then I ****canned it and went painless if you need any help I just did a 22 circuit system took me 5 days..

I started this thread looking for a harness for my 78' TA. I contacted Painless and they told me the Direct Fit 1970-81 Camaro kit is what I need for my Pontiac. The kit #20114 includes the tail lights and head light harnesses. I'm weary on the fact it will be direct fit for TA with different tail lights and head lights, even the gauges are different (I think)
This kit is not cheap over $700+. Wondering if anyone used one of the Camaro ones on their Bird?

Hmmm... I get your concern. For that price you would hope for something reasonably close to a direct fit.

Thats what I thought too! Squid, might as well use M&H or just use the generic painless and do a little splicing. But if someone used the Camaro one I'd like to find out, I think its pretty new.

I've installed several Ron Francis Wire Works harnesses, they are marked every 6 inches, but when it was time to do my 54 International Pickup I used this instead, mostly because it was a lot less money.

What make/model of wiring kit do you speak of? I have the EZWire kit on the way. It's a good heads-up, tho. I might even consider checking/soldering some terminals to avoid crappy crimps. It will only be out of the car once.

Well it took a while but I finally ordered my wiring. I went with American Autowire they are located here in Jersey and were very helpfull on the phone. I'll let you all know how I make out once I get them. Thanks

do all of the aftermarket kits have the new push in blade style fuses? i have to fit a new harness to the 65 gto im building and am very keen on being shot of the old glass fuse block. and how many circuits is considered enough ? ive got power windows already on the original harness and will be installing a modern sound system and air conditioning with thermo fans. can anybody recommend whats available from summit as i have some other stuff to get from them at the same time. thanks

You can call painless & have them build you a special harness for what you need . If you need extra circuits for your car & if you want the newer style blade fuse you can get that too. It does cost a little bit more but if your adding more it's well worth the few extra dollars .

You could add a 5 circuit newer style harness relatively inexpensive.
