Default FUEL PUMP

this is a N.O.S. fuel pump, a 1990 purchase...I know there was talk regarding rebuilding them..but N.O.S. units are available on E-BAY fo $130..just a thought ....the spray can primer matched my original primer I think (consider 40 years of age) darn close...

I'm a little puzzled by your term "NOS fuel pump" if the one you are describing is the fuel pump in your pics. Or are you talking about one (NIB... new in the box) you have bought on eBay for $130? The one in the pic is definately not an NOS unit.

Default FUEL PUMP

did I mess up??..the pump in the pic is an original N.O.S. unit purchased in or around 1990 to 94 time frame..installed on the car..run a few times..left on til yesterday (OR THE OTHER DAY)..replaced by a repop..it is what it is for a better description..but EDVISME does not need it...just enjoying a fuel pump kind of day!!!! THANKS1971HO for posting!!!...damn the jury!..IM back!!

Okay..that explains it. was NOS when you put it on some 20-24 years ago. Just not used much. Heck if it's still good, keep it, clean it up and use it. Buy some gold zinc plating paint and use it as a back up fuel pump. Scotchbrite it lightly, you'll be surprised how clean they'll come after you focus on the rust. I kept my old Carter high perf. pump now for years.

FYI transam1972.. generally accepted description of a NOS is New Old Stock. That means the part is still new,but is old left over stock. Any part you bought years ago, installed on a car and ran is no longer NOS.was NOS when you bought it, but now is just a used part..

if by FS, you're referring to me, I'm not the younger gen and trying to help you out does not make one an idiot. You're going through a difficult time and working on your car is therapy -- we get it. Problem is; drinking brings out your dark side...

You know Glenn.. you seem to be quickly wearing out your welcome as the saying goes. You post a poor little me letter, yet only a few days ago you are discussing the restored dash you just received, the seat backs you are sending to just dashes, the new seat coverings, new carpet..the list goes on and on- pretty damn expensive hobby for an unemployed broke man you claim to be.. ..yet you want sympathy from us for your allegedly dire financial /life situation.. Sorry buddy, I don't buy it any longer.. at one time i had sympathy for you.right before you got suspended from the board a number of us gave posts of encouragement, some even went to bat with the moderators to keep you from being banned ..but it is getting old now.. how on earth does a 50 ++yr old man who is broke spend so much on a damn 1972 TA?? everytime you get drunk and start mouthing off, we get these poor little me posts... I am sure I just spoke for many on this board who have better control of their keyboard than apparently I do tonight. I almost feel bad for hitting the enter key on this post... someone has to say this though, may as well be me...

x2 Well said 70RAlll
At some point Glenn you have to take responsibility for your action . Just because someone write something on here that you do not like the answer you start the name calling and some threatening remarks, it as to stop because it not making you any friends bud. Like I toll you in one of my post the reason I never wrote something on here was because of you flipping out on people and I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way.

I agree with you..if you could actually see the environment I am living in..my so called friends only used me..and my biggest problem is no family to reach out too..my mother passed away 4 years ago and she was the only one who would have cared/helped me..I have had medication problems..my job loss, then health benefits then the car has been more than I can handle...getting some things done on the T/A I had hoped would help me mentally...for those whos lives are organized..a bed to sleep on, a kitchen to cook in,a bathroom and perhaps a garage,,,and a steady job...more power to you...I have always lived by ..never kick a man when hes down...your right..if I am looking for sympathy(which I am not,..only understanding) I should check the dictionary...I came darn far on the T/A and I bet some of those photos will help someone out...this is a T/A site...not one for a lost soul.....I lost so much ,so quickly that I am tired of living..and I do not expect sympathy..in fact I would expect someone to ask me ..well if you are not planning on sticking around can I have the T/A ?...anyway if you scroll from my thread from start to now I really did accomplish something..and I thank everyone who helped...I really do not need to post any more everyone can see for themselves what we accomplished...I am sorry, truly sorry to everyone...the real person I blame is the person who tricked me out of my house (living)...then the job loss..I do not know what to do...anyway the times I could hold it together I did enjoy the forum very much..I do not think many appreciated my custom touches..but everyone is entitled to there opinion..and I have worn out my welcome with my erratic posts and I agree 100% percent...I will not be posting...if I have something intresting like the seatbacks when they come in , sure why not...I bet if another T/A enthusiast was right around the corner that may be the biggest help a true friend is hard to find...believe it or not I can be a true friend...give you the shirt off my back as they so...so all I ask is if you look back and see when things went wrong..perhaps you can atleast understand ...even say glad that happened to him and not me...so no new threads or comments in others...I am not a religious person...but I think I best pray for a miracle to happen.....take care everyone glenn

Glenn, Don't misunderstand. We're not trying to force you from making posts and comments. Drinking and typing is like drinking and driving, you gotta stay away from the keys. If it helps you feel better by sharing what you're doing, go for it, just remain civil. Ultimately we restore our cars the way we want to, but everyone does have an opinion and is welcome to share it. Hang in there. I forget where you live, but I'm sure there are other car guys near you that you can connect with.

thanks FUNCTIONAL SHAKER but I need to face my demons..I have tried but it is more complicated than that..yes I never drank like this before NOV...in fact I worked 6 days a week for the past 7 years,,I lost my job out of never getting along with my lazy female night crew chief..I was running latepulled into the front of the store..I clocked in as she stood there..I ran out and parked my car..the next night I came into work and the store manager said I was fired for stealing company time (6 minutes)..she could not even be a real manager as she let me work that night and told them in the morning...and the company was able to get rid of a full time employee with benefits..so losing my job with full health benefits meant losing my costly mental health medication..then my car accident in JAN. and a bad back and knee injurythat is being treated with powerful pain medication (I need back surgery most likely) I realize now that the medication is mind altering, but if I do not take it I get sick..combined with trying to survive in the basement and depression I sometimes get myself in a real mess..I recently did not get a job as I failed the drug test..it does not matter with a drs note as you are considered under the influence..I really am in much pain and cannot move without it..and yet do not know how to stop....I am not broke, but I am not wealthy....continued

when I first saw the P.Y. forum a thread inspired me to get my car together as many years earlier I had lost interest as I did not know how some things went back together (if only I had a 72 assembly manual in 1985!!!)took me along time to learn how to post photos..I knew I could never compete with the super threads and how so many people would post with the constant support..of course of course much money was being spent on these threads every week..so my idea was to post photos of assemblies and hardware nuts & bolts while I was slowly putting it back together I know I was disappointed as I had really hoped to make a lot of forum friends..getting shot down on incorrect parts or SR motor just did not make a lot of sense compared to the other threads..but my real problems began in NOV. ..if I have to part with the T/A I really need the interior complete

really I have 2 boxes of parts for the T/A..the car is that complete..it cost me $5k..I get shot down on fenders & door skins new GM later style)..I purchased the car in 1985 from the original owner with 58k miles (still does)..I think its nicely optioned, super solid but from some it gets beat down I feel its worth $15k as is, but that's me I like to think that even though some have said its just pictures of nuts & its more than that I believe I have posted photos of a very original T/A that others can use as a reference for there own car that they may be restoring..I really wish that I had more support from the beginning but its hard to entertain what people really want to see...a lot of action photos and money being spent..considering how very little work this car needed (except paint of course) yet on a low budget..I really dragged it out!!

I have a career seminar on June 9th that may lead to something..thanks FS for your post..if only one person can put themselves in my shoes and perhaps understand how a person could loose it..but its getting down to the wire and I need a hat trick..I need to step back as I never meant to hurt anyones feelings and I know I have..my problems are no excuse..when a person is under the influence (right now I am with the pain meds, just not alchohol) you do things like logging on but I do not know what I am doing sometimes the other stuff gives you a kind of superiority complex( and my ego is big enough!!) so its a no win scenario..I have done enough damage..maybe even a few laughs..but I will stay out of the threads and no new threads...I do hope to post some new work pics but will stay off the keyboard until I can get the help I truly need thankyou though FS and I would like to again apologize for any hurtful comments, I am in a dark place and hope to find the light take care and all my best thank you transam1972

Default sweating out the stupidity...

I gotta follow my own advice and get over it...throwing myself into T/A therapy...OL PINION HEAD recommended a nice replacement muffler for this car and I need to find that thread and get one..so a side project now is replacing the muffler & clamps & hangers..tomorrow I cut the old one off...got some photos..even I have not investigated back here in over 20 years.just as I got it in 1985..underneath is solid, of course there is the surface rust..I am assuming this was how they came and no extra undercoating?...most likely will pull the tank also...you can see the factory primer and Lucerne overspray..need to clean the gray overspray off..if anyone knows where to check for part #s on the rear axle or anything interesting to look out for, please LMK...thanks!!
