GTOFreek-- Calvin is a man of means, years ago he had 3 Lingenfelter twin turbo corvettes, 2 yellows and 1 black 2000-2004 models. He had over $100,000.00 in each one many other cars from 20,000-60,000 that I can remember. As far as Sonny Leonard, I think Calvin was just reaching out to someone to build his engine. I think I will direct him to C&C in Manassas or I will build it. Kinda want to keep it local.

From a business perspective, that's smart. But, you opened your mouth posting it.

Mr. Held for Ransom, I just repeated what was told to me. That was why I claimed ignorant on the j-code motor. Hopefully I can further my knowledge on the subject with more knowledgable people here. Maybe I can now go back to my friend and tell him there is no such thing as a j-code pontiac engine. I did not post anything about the pluses or minuses of a j-code pontiac motor, only repeated what was told to me. It now appears that there is no such animal, I know that because someone constructively contributed information unlike you that offers a smarta$$ comment.

So, since you posted in the Street Tech section, what was your original question?

Yeah, I would check and make sure they still have torque plates for Pontiacs, they've been focusing on Fords and Chevys so much here lately most of the 'other' brand equipment has been gone for some time. And not sure what the turn-around is these days either.

If it weren't for Butler in the process of moving to another location, that would be my suggestion. 4 hour drive each way is within the range of being worth driving it instead of shipping it. They just quoted me last week 4-6 weeks on an unassembled short block, which isn't bad, and would be shorter if it weren't for the move.

Where is Butler's new location going to be?

C&C just built a 400 for a friend in Woodbridge. Looks and sounds great. Mark will soon bring it down to me for a dyno tune.
I did not know Butler was just 4 hours away. Hopefully they will be moving closer to us.

Didn't ask Tom, but my impression was that it is close to the existing shop. My impression was too that they will remain functional during the move, just at a lower capacity. I may call back and ask this week.

I used to use C&C, and was going to go back to them when Kenson's shut down, for the Olds engine, but they didn't have torque plates for that. The comment I got when I called and asked was "we're pretty focused on Fords and Chevys", and I just repeated that like a parrot.

I'm curious on the details of the 400, shoot, they are like a mile from me, would prefer to use them. If you have details and opinions/feedback, please share.

JMO but if David could work a deal with his mom and build a new shop on her property she could have the revenue he is paying someone else,
he would be just down the street from the current and the old shop, and the money would stay in the family vs going to someone else for rental fees.

Tom V.

But it sounds like David has his deal all worked out.

BAH....while i'm not a fan of THESE wheels...

A well selected style, size, backspace and with the appropriate brakes behind them, 17's and 18's are far more functional and look better on the bigger mid size cars IMO. 19" is gray area and 20's are just too much for most builds. The car needs to be lowered a bit too. You cant do bigger wheels and have the car up in the air like its 1981.

Ill be sticking 18" Billet specialty Mag G's on my 67' here shortly. Part of the reason is the 13.4" Z51 brakes going behind them. You aren't putting those brakes behind anything shy of an 18" wheel. 15" Wheels just don't have a selection for performance rubber anymore either. You don't get modern tech there. There's a reason no one puts 15" wheels on a performance car these days.
