I installed my starter, then the long branch manifolds from Ram Air Restorations. So far, so good. But it looked like there was not enough clearance if I ever need to drop the starter, so I tried to remove it, and just as I figured it can't get past the manifolds.
Has anyone installed the Long Branch on a 70 (or 69) B body? Are you able to remove an original Delco Starter? I do not have a problem now, but I don't want a repair nightmare somewhere down the road. |

I had the same issue with my 66 Bonneville . It would only come out if I took the solenoid off. Your better off just buying a mini starter . Thats what I ended up doing .

mini starter is the way to go. much easier on the battery and wont heat up and quit. and it is easy to lift!

I was wondering if a mini starter would solve the problem. Any recommendations for the right one for my 455, that has enough power to crank and fit in the tight spot?
I will still need to remove the one manifold to remove the starter. Easier now than down the road. |

Get an I.M.I. Hi-Torque M-108. Fits well, ample cranking power. Good clearance. Good customer service.

Hitorque asks me for a Federal Tax ID Number to navigate on their site. I am an individual, not a business, so I don't have a tax number that I am aware of. I see lots of other vendors offer this type high torque mini starter. Any other comments?

I don't know if I.M.I. sells direct to customer. I bought mine from PY.
Call them at (888) 244-8675. Ask for Jack! I've tried the I.M.I. Hi-Torque M-108 with both the factory longbranch and the aftermarket longbranch manifolds. Excellent fit, good clearance. |
