Hey all, my 77 GP has a 2 piece speedo cable. One goes from the the tranny to the cruise control box on the left inner fender and the second cable goes from there to the speedometer. Does anyone know if it is geared inside that box on the inner fender? As in either sped up or slowed down? I want to replace it with a single cable but i still want it accurate. My cruise didn't work and I don't need it anyway. Thanks in advance for any and all replies

You are fine to replace it with a single cable. The factory cruise does not alter the cable speed between the trans and speedo. I did this a few months ago when I switched from the factory cruise to an aftermarket unit. I couldn't track down a new cruise servo for my car. Checked it with the GPS on my phone before and after and it is right on the money.
