Those Javelin have always been one of my favorites. Years ago I helped my friend's older brother drop a 390 in one. That thing was hella fast. AMC 390 is a great runner. Turns out those funny looking dog-leg shaped exhaust ports flow pretty well. And in the age before there were any good flow benches to speak of.

Agree GRX...and continuation of the AMC theme suddenly it's a 1977 "What If?" again.

Was cleaning out pix file the other day, and found this image I'd saved a while ago, and it really hit me:

Is it any wonder the Pontiac Trans Am was such a hit in 1977?

Considering what the competition was offering, was all show with stripes but was there any "go" in the one below?

Even before Smokey & The Bandit seared Black Trans Ams into every young Gearheads psychi...not much else could hold the candle, eh?

Found a different version (photo) of the Chevy VEGA rail car loading system than those I remembered posted on this
thread here yrs ago. If my memory is incorrect, and this IS a repost, please forgive me. TY.

Check it out!

My uncle was driving my dad in that '57 Chevy before my dad could drive. My uncle wrecked it and in a panic, he drove to the closest pay phone to call his friend for help. My dad remembers my uncle asking his friend, "You've got to come help me. If Pappy finds out, I'm going to die a virgin with a busted fender."

My uncle was 16 and my dad was 13 at the time. I just heard that story this past summer at a family get together.
